Dear Wondering,

Sorry to say both Mrs. Noyes and Mrs. Wilder are no longer there. Mrs. Noyes retired and i'm not sure where Mrs. Wilder moved to. My oldest child had them both and absolutely loved them. They were great, loving, and caring teachers and are greatly missed.

I have a daughter at New Market Elementary and I can see the good and the bad. My baby started out in the preschool and I absolutly loved the teachers! Mrs. Suzie, Mrs. Teresa and Mrs. Elaine were awesome! Although prek was great, as she has gotten older, it seems as if the teachers have gotten worse. I'm sorry, but many of them seem incompetent and are teaching there because they are on "the buddy plan" not bc of their abilities. I understand that it is a small close knit school and I am grateful for that, but I think certain teachers need to be more concerned with their students progress instead of gossip time in the hallways (especially 1st grade teachers....). I have also found out that if you question ANYTHING at that school, the first thing the administration does is try to flip it around and make the whole problem your fault, not the teachers. Jefferson county is very political and it is always about who you are or who you know. And by the way, I am educated and very involved with NES.

Seems like to me that a lot of people on here need to grow up this bashing back forth is ridiculous I am a parent who has a child in this school and still have one now and the only problems that I have had is with one of the principles and no it wasn't because my child was in trouble it's because she wanted to be a [email protected]@@ that day but other than that it has been a great school. And to these parent's bashing cocade3 because she ask a question i mean really you talk about what your children doing what you do well open mouth insert foot. You are no better and as far as volunteering most parents don't have time most parent's have every day jobs and yes i would love to be more involved with my kids and school but you know what i have a job that i have to go to every day so why don't all of you so called adults grow up and stop with all the bashing and bad mouthing and you wonder why kids are why they are today look at your self then ask that question.

Count your Blessings that your child is in a good environment with wonderful teachers as they are at New Market Elementary. If you are not happy, maybe you should consider putting your child in a school that makes you happy. 90% if the children's problems are the parents. My child is very happy. Bashing the school, teachers, principal, and all school employees totally shows your stupidity. Any problem I have had, I have always been able to address in an adult manner without bashing anyone. My kid was in pre-k and yes, that group of teacher are like all the teachers wonderful. You should walk a mile in some of the teachers shoes with some of the unruly kids that moms think do no wrong!!!!!

Instead of worrying about what the teachers are talking about try worrying about how your child is doing and how you can help your child. I have seen to many kids get lost because the parents want to blame everybody but themselves. Look in your home to see if there is a problem first.

I have been involved at New Market Elementary School for the last 15 years with all my children and have found that it is an absolutely wonderful school! We have always had the most awesome teachers that take pride in their jobs as well as caring for their students. I have been and am a very active parent in my childrenís lives at home and at school. Even though I work now I am blessed to be able to take off for special days at school such as field trips, field days, and any special event that my children are involved in. In my 15 years here I have seen a new principal come, teachers retire, and new teachers hired, all of whom I have gotten to know personally with the belief of their dedication to our kids education.

The one thing that hasnít changed in my 15 years is the few parents that I can count on one hand who canít seem to get along well with others, whether it is with the teachers or administration. There are those few who think they are above everyone else and donít have to follow the rules even though the rules are put into place for their childrenís safety as well as my own. They also tend to think their child does no wrong and takes the word of their child without asking what the other side of things is or the circumstances surrounding the issue. They are frequently either coming to the school or calling complaining about something that hasnít gone their way or the way they think it should be done. They canít see how they are hurting themselves as well as their kids by their actions. I have seen a child be so embarrassed by their parent causing a scene over petty stuff and other children coming to comfort that child. It is a sad situation when you are the parent that the teacher doesnít want their child because of who you are. Would it not be awful to know that when you as a parent walked through the doors of your childís school that everyone including teachers, administrators, staff, and even other parents cringed when they see you coming knowing there would be no way of making you happy or even content no matter what they did.

To end on a brighter note, there is the vast majority of wonderful and awesome parents that I have also gotten to know over the years who strive to make their childís educational experience phenomenal! I know you donít hear it enough, but ďTHANK YOUĒ to those parents and teachers who have helped shape the future of our children! You do an AMAZING job and I admire your dedication to our children! Keep up the faith and believe in your ability make a difference!

I went to New Market Elementary school when Mr. Strange was the principle and it was great it might had been up tight but at least we learned respect. Now my kids go there and when you walk in right off the bat you dont feel the same as once you did back then. There is something wrong when your kid comes home and tells you our teachers stay out in the hall and go to each other class room instead of staying in there and teachin. I also think there is something wrong when some parent brings cupcakes or candy in for the kids you shouldn't single out any kid even if they are in trouble how would you feel if you got singled out for being a bad teacher.

Yes, people should work together, but, it is easier to blame the administration, teachers, aides, etc than to admit we have an unruly, disrepectful, big mouth kid that knows whatever they say it's ok. Sure Mom, Dad step up to responsibility. As a child,(a lot of years ago) if we did half the stuff the kids do today and be disrepectful our bottom would be sore from a spanking (unheard of today) not only at school, but, at home also!

How funny is it that its never mentioned the good stuff these teachers do? I personaly know several teachers in new market elementary school that bought students christmas presents because their parents lost their jobs and werent going to have a christmas. These teachers could have spent that money on their own children, but choose to do the right thing and help others in need. How about all the money they spend on school supplies not covered by the system? This is money out of their own pockets! Why would they choose to do that if they didnt care? Make sure you take that into consideration when complaining about our teachers!

Once again why don't all of you try growing up i mean this is crazy the talking back and forth about each other i mean really come on. There is no wonder the kids are like they are the parents are suppose to be the role models and look at you gripping and bitching back and forth just drop it and grow up. Think about your kids

New Market is a great school! from the girls in the front office to the custodians, teachers, aides and principal...they all work very well together to make NMES an inviting and enjoyable place to be. Parents are luck to have this school and the school is just as lucky to have mostly great parents!

The teachers, administration, and support staff at New Market Elementary are GREAT! They care about the children's education and take sincere care in getting to connect with the children.
Recently, there have been much debate over teacher accountability. Yes, teachers should be held accountable; however, students and parents MUST take RESPONSIBILITY too! Teachers can teach their hearts out, have compelling lessons that engage students, and try their best to reach each child (No Child Left Behind...lol), but if the child does not care, does not put forth effort, and acts up in class, it should not go against the teacher. If a parent wishes not to get involved in his/her child's education, does not show up for parent-teacher conferences, and does not take time and put forth effort to help the child with homework, the teacher should not bear the responsibility. We all must work together as a team, in order for the child to have a successful school year. With that said, let's stop criticizing NMES teachers and staff, and start looking at how we, as parents, can help our children learn too.

I think New market schools would be better off with a new principle. I have heard nothing but horrible things about her. I heard at rush strong schools she was a teacher and she would flirt with other teachers. I feel that is very inapproprate. Also she was supposed to be fired last year because she was shopping when she was supposed to be at a meeting. If this is the type of perosn we allow around our kids then what is this world coming to? As a parent it makes me wonder how can I trust the school when the principle is not very trustworthy.

I work at New Market and just want to say that our teachers and our principal are all very hard working! As for shopping while at a meeting...maybe is was her lunch hour or maybe she was buying something for school....AND...how do you know this is even true? Were you there?? There are a few people that work in the school that want Mr. Strange back and they make it VERY hard for Mrs. Forgety to get things accomplished. They had power then and got to run the school. Now that we have a new principal who is fair and makes everyone do their job, those people are not happy and try to spread rumors and make her look bad every chance they get! I love my job and really like MOST of the people that I work with. It's not always easy, parents often make it hard and the few people at school who are more worried about themselves and making it hard for Mrs. Forgety than doing their job make it not always a great place to be...but overall, I LOVE IT! And unless you work there...I'd say you probably are only getting 1/2 of the truth and should get your facts straight before you speak about things that you don't know about.
