A subway would be nice. A curves for women would be nice. A lot more shopping would be nice so we dont have to spend the gas to go out of town.

There has to be someone here willing to invest. They come here and look at topix and see how everyone runs each other down.
Look at the Chinese place that was here and the Pizza Hut. The only new place that has survived it the BBQ stand-pobably because it is mobile and can run!

There will never be anything in this town. You have people who have money that control everything.I think we need somethings like walmart, burger king, or mabye even something fancey like a steak house or something. New Madrid needs to do something because before you know it there will be know one but old people left.

Well the chinese food wasnt good and when they finally got someone different to cook it was already to late and the Pizza Hut, well we know what happened there, and it wasnt the city of New Madrid residents that hurt that place

No mystery why NM can't get any business to come in. The people who own the property and have the money in town don't want it because it would make their property values and taxes go up. If someone had money to invest I would recommend Howardville. The business could benefit from the schools and I-55.

they only use 1/2 of the school and that is all that is taken care of, for the Head Start program

The condition of the old school property in Howardville doesn't have anything to do with the residents of the town. I'm not sure who owns that property now, but Head Start is run by the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services. A gas station combined with a fast food or full service restaurant would be great. The place where the old truckstop used to be would be a great location...but, who has the money?

St Louis resident wrote that something in HV wouldn't last long and look at "there" school. I think the correct spelling in that sentence is "their." Maybe you would have benefited from a little time at that school-and it lasted for decades. HV was the basketball powerhouse in semo. Those great Lilbourn teams in the 70's owe a great portion of their success to the kids that would have gone to the HV school before the schools combined. Try giving a little thought before you run off at the mouth.

The old Howardville school does concern all the people of the town, it is owned by them. IT is owned by the city and part is leased to DAEOC for Headstart program. At present it is not feaseable to repair the building being cost prohibitive.

I think there is a space of land close to Mann/s that would make a good location for a store or even grocery. I would rather live there any day than in Parma.

Too much of drugs and alcohol abuse by the folks we are supposed to look up to. I mean when I was in school in the 80's I would run in to gov't officials in the bars getting toasted, hanging out at parties getting high as a kite. If I was an investor I wouldn't put anything in or around New Madrid. Too corrupt and risky. Same reason I moved away. I realize no town is perfect, but NM has a history of abuse with little or no change.

The "old" people made New Madrid, they fought wars, gave birth, raised their kids and they stayed in New Madrid. Please show a little respect for the people who made the town you live in.
