My husband has worked there a couple years and I am so very grateful for how hard he works for our family so that we may have decent insurance. He got hired on never having been "union" so this is all new to us. We constantly receive Union literature telling us to vote for Obama (cuz historically Unions vote democratic) but the problem is not Noranda, and honestly not Anthem Blue Cross...it's all the government limitations/fines,etc. placed on the Insurance Industry so that it's nearly impossible to insure employees due to cost, etc. Why? So Obamacare can work its so-called magic. My husband said there was an $8000 deductible (he heard)...now I see that's actually for out of pocket expenses. I was freaking out til I saw that. PLEASE everyone ask your insured friends who work elsewhere what their benefits are...you'll see how good we have it. Of course this is just my opinion but I will vote for a President that doesn't promote socialized healthcare.

To noranda wife, you recognized a big problem union leaders won't adress, Obama care no business or citizen has any idea the cost this will be and will have to be passed on to the cosumers, union leaders are so far entrenched into the democratic party that the rank and file members get smoke and mirrors, before you decide family first

This move sounds more like company propaganda. Saw this for years up here when Chrysler was still active. Why move in trailers when they haven't even broke ground yet?

UNIONS raised the pay scale thru out the country, improved working conditions for everbody, and gave workers their rights against companies.

once were a very good thing for workers however they became greedy and promote illegal activity among members and also want mambers to believe that companies owe them more then the agreed contract.

Noranda 80% lazy people who work 1 hour sleep 1 hour, work 1 hour sleep 1 hour... Trust me I see you do it all the time..

Most gripe about everything..."it's not my job, I can't do it, I want a first step, what do you mean I have to work.. Boo hoo hoo.. Man up sweep the floor, your not to good to do it, I did!!...

If noranda closed... It's because both blue hats and non union destroyed it... Learn to work together do your job and go home... It's like working at a sheltered workshop..rumor starting, backstabbing, cry babies... Man up

I'm going to laugh my @ss off when I see you guys working for 8 bucks a hour because you took advantage of a good thing until it packed it and moved.. Nothing like being sold out by your own... I packed my bags, and landed a better paying job...

the first place to have a good thing come to a nasty end. Bethlehem Steel!!! Check out the suicide rates in the communities where they were devasted. Went from fat cats doing nothing making the big bucks and complaining about having to work. Then it ended and there were many who couldn't handle working like the common worker. Yes common worker those who get paid 7.50-10.00 per hr. and have to earn it all. Think about this when you vote, it's NO JOKE !!!!

1) Raised the pay scale = reduced employer profit margin;

2) improved work conditions = federal law did that first (FLSA), so that's not necessary;

3) employees have a right to find another job if they don't like how they're treated at Noranda.

1. Shame on them for causing the benefits gained from the national pay scale laws. Find another job? That statement contradicts your own reference to the FLSA.

2. NLRB was founded 1935. Guess why?

3. Non-union workers have also benefited from these laws.

4. FLSA was passed in 1938 by Roosevelt. Guess who got the ball rolling?(2nd paragraph below)

5. Non-union workers also benefit from these laws.

"The minimum wage is a cornerstone of the United States' labor system, and has been a cutting-edge labor law topic among employers and workers alike for decades. However, the United States hasn't always had a minimum wage. Before the minimum wage was introduced during the Great Depression of the 1930s, there was no national minimum wage, or indeed any legislation to protect workers from exploitation. Because of this lack of regulation tens of thousands of workers were routinely exploited in sweatshops and factories, forced to work in horrible conditions and for pennies a week.

Early attempts by labor unions to create a mandatory minimum wage were ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court on the grounds that they "restricted the worker's right to set the price for his own labor". This allowed employers to continue exploiting their workers through the Great Depression of the 1930s, when incredible demand for jobs caused wages to drop even further to an all-time low. With poverty becoming a huge national issue, President Franklin D. Roosevelt promised to constitutionally protect American workers as a key part of his 1936 re-election campaign." (Copied)

$8,000 out of pocket is actually really good. My wife's is $9,000 out of pocket,$5,000 deductible, and she pays $192 a month just for coverage for her, not the family. And she works for a large corporation. As Noranda wife explained above, out of pocket and deductible is not the same thing for those who are confused. Out of pocket is the total amount you will have to pay for your healthcare before your insurance picks up 100%. People need to understand insurance is not Medicaid. You WILL have to share the cost of your healthcare ANYWHERE you work. And, thanks to Obamacare, you're going to have to pay more and more yourself every year. People, you all need to do your homework on healthcare. Seriously, I hear more ignorant comments made about insurance every time I walk into that place. Everyone needs to get a big reality check. I guess if the ignorant vote to strike over insurance, then they will get theirs while they are in the unemployment line.

You could always do your company a favor,and reduce your salary/benefits, to increase their profit margins.
