Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The event in 1989 was engineered by Ronald Reagan, PM Thatcher, Pope JPII, and Lech Walesa. Thus on the celebration of this seminal event in 20th Century, where was the President of the United States? This, of course, is the guy who could drop everything and jet to Europe to beg for the Olympics to be brought to his corrupt home city of Chicago. Instead, he has a video displayed in Berlin and at the end of this little film he mentions..........himself. Not his fellow American Reagan but himself. The pathetic little ego has no bounds.

Get real and honest (by the way.) If "Barry" would have showed up the republicans would bi___ about the fact that he did! This guy just cannot win with you people. Note: existing homes up in IL. Economists say the recession is over, Dow up. Job loss around 10 percent, but when REAGAN was president it was 11 percent! Sorry, but facts say it all. Turn off Faux news and watch ANY other channel and you won't be so dilusional.

I'll give you facts, my husband has been layed off from commercial construction for close to one year, many trades people I know have not been working. If corporations are watching what they spend, they sure are not going to remodel or construct new buildings. Many people have lost their homes, have exhausted every penny they have, can not pay their real estate taxs, etc... Economists can claim that it is over, but until blue collar workers are back to work I think it's a lie. JMO.

Here's the deal: Healthcare reform. Let's say you have a small to med. sized company. You have worked your butt off night and day for years to make it something. You have a staff of 10 people now and the payroll is $500,000. New rule: You MUST offer insurance to them or be fined. what will happen: They will hire just enough to fall under the $500k radar = loss of job(s), and lack of growth. Also, the additional cost to the employer will be passed along in a higher cost for goods or services. Higher prices are inevitable. All in all, it will kill the small to medium sized businesses of this country from which we get 80% of our employment. The AIGs, Banks, etc. will all get bail outs from Barry, but the little guy? Good bye!!!

Good bye!!! I don't believe that business with less that 10 employees will have to carry health insurance - they are exempt. Check your facts. My husband works for a very small company and that company will not have to offer him health insurance if the reform passes. Currently, we pay $600 per month for MAJOR MEDICAL ONLY and he has no pre-existing diseases, issues, etc. If he goes to the doctor for whatever - he pays in full out of his pocket. The current healhcare system sucks and I hope the healthcare reform passes with a public option, because we could use it NOW and in the future!!!!! By the way, me and the rest of the family are on our own policy at $1700 per month! We don' even use this insurance and it went from $1200-$1700 in ONE year! Also, they can DUMP us at any time if we come down with some horrible disease. Great system - this is a damn joke!

Thank you mom of two...no matter what an "experts" say we are not out of this for a long time. The dow being up does not help many. Existing homes does not help many. Employment is what matters. people being able to work at put food on there table and take care of their familys.

Not pointing fingers at anyone here-Just a thought. My husband and I purchased a home that we could afford on ONE salary - knowing that if he ever lost his job, both him and I would get a job (even if his new job paid less) and we would survive. Please know that his job does not pay six figures either! Also, we budgeted our money and stayed completely out of debt. How many people do you know that purchase houses and owe full tilt or cannot afford from day one? A husband and wife that have to work full time to keep the house they are in? These same people also seem to have lots of assets that they still owe on. These same people probably have over $20,000 in credit card debt. Does RESPONSIBLITY on each individual play a role in this? It seems there are alot of spoiled people out there who live on credit and don't think it will ever catch up with them. I hate to say this, but the economy is helping me tremendously. I get great deals on all the things I never purchased before and people understand if I told them I could not pay a bill this month! My utilities are lower than ever! Life is good for me and if my husband lost his job tomorrow, the worst that would happen is he will work at Home Depot and I will get a job at Burger King. Yes, we can make it on those salaries. We would have healthcare paid for as well! I don't want to sound like I know it all, but this is something to really think about. How many people can scale down on housing, credit card debt, luxury items, etc. and live a more reasonable lifestyle? I bet they would not worry in this economy as much as they do. Just food for thought.

I'll simplify: If a company has a payroll of $500k or more (head count is irrelevant, my choosing 10 was just an example), they must provide insurance. Many mid-sized companies could easily have 10 employees making anywhere from $20-$80k putting them in this category. The downside is, the burden of mandatory insurance will force many companies to either layoff employees, reduce wages or pass this added business cost onto the consumer of their service/product. Reduced salaries combined with higher costs is not a healthy mix. I believe over 80% of the country is employed by small to medium sized companies. We could see even higher unemployment numbers.

Just food for thought. Hey "high': Exactly what we did. We have owned our house free (paid for on one salary) and clear for a decade, have little credit card debt, and have sent three children off to college. We are not 60 years old yet. How'd we do it? 1) Didn't buy top of the line clothing or gadgets. 2) Clipped coupons and sopught out discounts. 3) Insisted our children grow up to live beneath our means. 4) Drove cars until they literally died. The '86 finally conked out last February. 5) Invested with an eye toward security, not high-risk ventures. 6) Enjoyed each other's company while not taking extravagant vacations. It was really pretty easy to accomplish. Can't most people do it this way? If you're envious, tough s**t. You likely screwed up somewhere back up the line. Your problem.

to "high" just google "$500,000 payroll provision for health reform bill" and you'll get all kinds of information.
Owning a small business, I may not want to increase my payroll (i.e., create jobs) if it is going to cost me more in mandatory insurance premiums. Just don't like big government messing with a person's right to their own business plan.
Since when is it a company's obligation to provide insurance???? Do I have to provide car insurance too now? Really think about it...why isn't insurance another product that everyone must buy on their own? Maybe that competition would drive down cost.

Look at it this way, can your husband take a $1700/mo pay reduction? If his small company has to offer Health Insurance, do you really think they have the money to pay for it? <lol "You" will get a salary reduction to cover the cost. There is no such thing as a free lunch... You should know that. Now, if the 36M they claim need Health Insurance and can't pay for it, then add the cost of covering 36M people and divide that by those like you who are paying for it. So figure your $1700/mo policy will go up to about $1900. How's that for your free lunch?
