I hear a lot of women getting all excited about this Jewel gig...buy $30 worth of certain groceries and get $15 back. worth it?

I noticed Ragu is one of the products. Selling for $1.39 or something like that. You can get the same jar at Target for $1.00 without the craziness of this deal.

Retail marketers are saavy...not going to give anything away. They got you in the store over and over...you'll keep buying more and more.

Any thoughts???

Yes, there is a formula to it....but these women spend hours at Jewel! And really how many jars or Ragu can one family use?? Same with cereal.....I think it becomes an addiction. Not worth the time or energy if you ask me.

Kohls & penney's also give cash back, spend $50.00 get $10.00 etc... this is nothing new in
marketing, what about the frequent buyer cards,
any way to get you in the store to spend, and get you back to spend more,
my 2 sense

I think that Jewel, among others, take great advantage of the fact that we are working so hard to keep our families above water in these economic times, that they prey on the lack of time we have to get the facts. For example, Jewel will have a "Buy one get one" sale on chicken breasts but the chicken breasts will be priced at 5.49 per pound. What!?!?!?!? Are the chickens dipped in gold that week!?!?!?! In New Lenox, we should have been alarmed when Jewel purchased the old Eagle building (now FIM) to prevent competition. I think this store is a total rip off. It's also interesting to me that Jewel produce is 3-4 times the price of that at Brookhaven (in Mokena) and has hair growing on it in 3 days. I buy produce from Brookhaven and it lasts 7-10 days without any fancy bags or procedures.

Daily Horoscope for December 21

Aquarius

Although you're still feeling sociable and outgoing, the Solstice brings the need for a little time to yourself now and then. It's time to temper your busy social life with some precious moments of solitude. Make sure you do, as this need is something important and life-enhancing. It will certainly recharge your inner batteries, which might be a little run down.
