Elizabeth Warren: Hike Minimum Wage to $22 an Hour

Lordy huh? Minimum wage jobs are minimum wage because they are starter jobs!! If you can't pass the pee in a cup test to move to a career position, it's not a society responsibility to pay you more!

The people that have jobs at McDonalds, Wendys, Bozo Hotdogs, etc, etc, need to be educated to realize these are not careers. They are jobs for High School childen to make a few bucks. While you work at these jobs you have to be educated and responsible enough not to start a family and have multiple kids. Its common sense that you if you cant take care of yourself, you shouldn't be taking on more responsibility. For if you do, you figure it out, don't look at the responsible people in society to burden with your irresponsibility!

We figured it out, now its your turn!

You two blab on and on about people living off of the government and that they need to find a job. Now you make fun of people that have been forced to work low income or minimum wage jobs? Ask Professor how hard his truck driving job is. Sits on his fat ass from point A to point B, and maybe stops at a porn theater or truck stop to visit his favorite lot lizard. You two bitch about how there is no jobs for graduating college students. So should people catch shit for 1. Not finding a job after college, or 2. Losing a job and working at a minimum wage job to survive. The real morons are you two.

WTF, you are way off base in your conclusions. The point being made above is that a minimum wage job, is a starting job, no experence or specil skills needed to do the job. Fliping burgars for example. You can learn how to do that job in 10 minutes right? It pay's minimum wage, and a burgar then sells for say a buck. You want to make more money? Go learn a skill, get a higher education, get a second ot third job. Hell, I just read about a high school drop out, age 24, earning minimum wage here in IL. He sold his car and went to ND in 2011. He now earns six-figures, learned oil rigging skills, and is happy. Where there is a will, there is alwaysa way.

My point previously was, if you're putting in a 8 hr day flipping burgars for a living, it is unfair to expect society to cover your costs for a home, 2 kids, phone, food, etc... My point is,$22/hr for a minimum wage job is asking society to comp you because you will not do the work to qualify for a higher paying job on your own.

Changing the context of this as you have in your post, I agree. If you lost your job, and need to take a starter minimum wage job, you do what you have to do.

Also, grasp that people do not live off the government, they live off of your & my hard earned money, taken by government in tax. Government can "only" give you a dollar "after" they first took that dollar from someone else.

McDonalds, Wendys, Bozo Hotdogs, etc, etc. I think we have to rethink who these jobs are for and what the expectation of these jobs are in society. I hate being redundant but the way America and the world market has evolved over the last 20 years maybe these jobs need to be viewed as a bigger piece of the puzzle when supporting a family. With so many manufacturing and tech jobs leaving for various reasons the jobs that are left have to sustain our way of life.

Huh?

Will you pay $10 for a Big Mac?

Don't get me wrong, I hate having seen all the tech jobs turned over to Indians with green cards, but that ship sailed long ago. The Indians are well educated, and skilled, so they got the jobs. They initially worked for less too. Business is business as they say.

Those jobs are gone forever. America needs to create new jobs right? How about exploiting our energy sources? We'd create millions of high paying jobs! Oh wait, Obama wants to inhibit us on using our energy strengths. Well, how about incenting business to grow & expand? Oh wait, Obama wants them to pay more taxs, and deal with more regulations. So that won't work. Hmm, maybe your right....(lol) Nothing is going to change until we vote the left wing liberal Obama supporters out. They want things like they are.

How many hours a day do "high school" aged people have to work. The rest of the day is filled with working adults. Some of the businesses are open 24 hours a day. These same people are being squeezed by rent, morgages and health issues. The expectation is for people to work til they are 70 years old. These are the jobs that we have that need to help support our economy. I dont eat a lot of fast food but when i do i would be happy to pay a couple dollars more as long as its going to the employees and taxes to help support our way of life.

Mike, if that type of job supports your way of life, then things are good for you. You can pretty much get whatever you want from life by never giving up, and being persistant. Where you are going to be in 2 to 5 years really depends upon three things. The books you're reading, the people you're associating with, and having written down goals that you review each & every day. If you hang around with $100'aires and not $100,000'aires, or $1,000,000'aires, you'll most likely end up with $100'aires in 2 to 5 years. If you don't have written down goals, then any path you take in life is acceptable. Those with written down goals, tend to give thought & plan which path's they take.

You sound a little down Mike. Shake it off. Your attitude determines your altitude in life!

. Is that why you and professor are such a-holes? BTW, I suspect I have made more this year than you and Professor will earn all year combined, and I think Spike is correct. You are both uneducated goons who do nothing but twist the words of others. You are happy only when you can complain because you are worthless malcontents who don't work or contribute to society; instead you complain and try to bring everyone else down to your depressed state. Get a job. Get out of your mom's house. Get laid. Get off the computer. Get a life.

If we could get you deadbeats out of bed and show up at your minimum wage job that would be a miracle. I'm earning 100K a year driving a truck on a HS education. I worked minimum wage when I was a child. I realized I couldn't raise a family on it. I went to driving school and made a career. Where there's a will there is a way. That's your problem, you don't have any will or nuts for that matter! GET A JOB OR STARVE!

Not quite. I'm one of the lucky ones that am fortunate that I made it through one of our largest recessions. I make enough money and don't look down on others. I hear ya as far as who you rub elbows with but that goes with all walks of life. If you associate with the $1'000,000'aires sometimes your not hearing (or choose not to hear) the $100'aires tha are doing the work and are voicing there concerns (whining). We don't have enough jobs like mine that pay a good wage to supports a family. Those jobs started leaving 20 years ago and there was no plan to replace them. As your seeing the more people who strive and are educated the more unsaturated the college degree market is getting to the point that they are not finding the job they want. You will need a college degree to sell something at a big box store. The government doesn't care because of the money that is being generated by loans and taxes from education.

If I could sell a hot dog for $50, I would open up a hot dog stand and pay someone $20 an hour to work for me. That's not realistic though.

Have you listened to the experts on our energy enriched nation? They say we could add 2.5 million jobs by 2020 if we just tap our natural resources that we know are there. They would be good jobs as well. No minimum wage. Obama wont do it. Instead he is going to raise taxes on the oil companies and use the revenue to explore wind, solar, and electric energy. The oil companies are going to raise the price of gas for us to compensate for Obama's tax on them. We will be paying even more for gas in the near future. This is the direction the country wants to move in. Extremely sad, but reality! The world must be laughing at us fools!

You should feel fortunate that you make that kind of money driving a truck. Not many drivers can say that and it is getting tougher to find driving jobs that pay that. A lot of drivers are making what they made 15 years ago. FYI i just worked 7 days in a row so the deadbeats in bed thing does not apply.

How bout you double the price of the hot dog from $2 to $4, and double the wage from $8 to $16? People would have more money in their pocket and may visit you allowing your business to move into a building. Just because you open a hot dog stand doesn't mean your some big business owner that is entitled to take advantage of others. If your customers like what your doing you may grow to a point that you can afford a building. The energy situation is a joke. Just hang on for the ride. The industry may create some jobs but the prices are here to stay. Find a job close to home so your not burning fuel. As a professional driver you see the cost associated with the up and down market more than most. Especially if your an owner operator.
