To think we are paying for all these illegal aliens makes my blood boil. They come to our country breaking the law in the process and then use our laws to stay here. You can't deny another human being his existence and help if they are sick but they go there for the sniffles. This drives me nuts. When I was born it cost about $900 dollars to have a baby. It's now about $9000. What changed? We are paying for all those who won't or can't pay, that's what! You want to live here? Pay the freight!

Well that sucks, I have been to Physcians a few times with my kids, in & out within 20 minutes. I tried Provena one time for myself, 45 minute wait on a Tuesday afternoon. Receptionists told me to come back around 2.
Never had a 3 yr old turn lethargic so quickly, usually they show symptoms for a day or two, and If my kids had/have a bad cough for a day, we don't mess around, we see. Doctor ASP.
If you got health insurance don't sit back and wait to get sicker before you use it. So sick and tired of small children sitting in the front of a shopping cart, hacking up a lung, nose running all over heir coat, bright red cheeks and chapped lips, so their mom's can and money at Target and not $20 on a co-pay at the doctor!

Everyone will be going to the doctor asap, and you will be paying for it.

What makes my blood boil is that seeking hospital care, enrolling children in school, being hired for a job, securing financial aid through the government......these are all prime opportunities to identify illegal immigrants and take steps to enforce the laws. Instead, enforcement is ignored, their needs are met and we suffer the consequences of footing the bill.

If a bank robber turns up at the hospital or child abuse is suspected, the authorities are called immediately. Why do illegals get a free pass?

That five hour wait at the ER is a result of our own apathy and until we start enforcing the laws and stop meeting their needs the problem will only get bigger.

Treat them once, call ICE and have them escorted to the border. No return customers. Watch the numbers fall.

Glad you liked it there because you will be paying through the nose or your insurance company will. They charged us $800 for a strep test. I have talked to friends who used that facility and were charged outrageous fees as well. I love it when people say they have insurance and they paid so they don't care. Well folks, it's places like this who abuse the system and charge fees like this that lead to us paying high premiums. You can expect your bill to be at least as much as mine for the strep or more.

You paid that much because your bill (that gets paid) has to cover all the illegals and Medicaid patients that don't pay a dime. Somebody has to pay for this stuff. If you have an insurance plan you pay into it is you.
I was going to get an MRI. The doc said I could go through my insurance and pay the deductible or go to his guy who does it for $300 cash. That's vs $1500 through my insurance. Same procedure. Something stinks.

That's a great idea. But how are Obama and democrats going to win elections without the illegals vote? Wouldn't that be considered racist or a hate crime?

How is that abuse? They are open and working on a holiday. Its no different that you receiving extra compensation for working on a Holiday. My brothers furnace went out Christmas eve. He was charged $550 to get a repairman out to change a $40 ignightor part. That's life, get used to it!

If you look at the EOB (Explanation of Benefits) that comes after you have used your insurance you see that the industry has established limits to what they will pay for any given procedure or test. Anything charged over and above that limit is the responsibility of the patient. So, if you choose to go to a quick care in an emergency situation, i.e. sick on a holiday, you are accepting the additional cost for the convenience. Professor is right in that with any convenience, you pay additionally. And any of us who have had a sick kid over a holiday would be grateful for the service and pay the cost although it never hurts to challenge a cost that is way out of line. Often medical facilities will "write off" a portion of the patient's responsibility if asked. This begs the question "Why do you have to charge that much in the first place then?".

Uni and Money also have legitimate arguments. Though the industry has established limits, they are notoriously out of whack and are screaming for reform.

It was not the "illegals vote" that won the election. It was the Hispanic vote. Hispanic does not automatically equate to illegal but it did move to help the illegal cause. We are fast approaching the tipping point and I can only hope that legal Americans of Hispanic descent will understand that they are seriously hurting themselves and that misplaced loyalty comes at a high price.

I did not go there on a holiday. We went on a Thursday which was a few months ago and not a holiday. There is no reason other than abuse to charge that much for a 3 minute visit with a doctor and a step test. You read wrong, that's life, get used to it. Too bad about your brother's furnace. Maybe you'd have a little more sympathy for him if it had happened to you. Happy New Year, professor.

Please do not forget that Private Health Insurance companies are very profitable. They lobbied big time to get Obamacare to their liking. They pay big bucks to politicians on both sides. They make the rules.

Wondering if the original poster checked the website to see the wait times. Also, there is a freestanding ER in Homer. The website shows both waiting times.

Not defending or criticizing anyone, just something everyone should know in the event of future emergencies.
