i just had the worst experience at a local vet. took my mild mannered dog into get neutered, microchip'd and nail clipped. dog came out bleeding and so scared he couldn't even walk. then when they cleaned up the floor they didn't dry it. i fell. they told me my dog tried to bite them. this dog has been to many a local fair and large crowds. try walking your dog on saturday morning of frankfort fest. My dog is extremely friendly and sweet. my dog has NEVER pooped in his cage. been a very long time since he had an accident in the house. this dog was returned to me full of poop. as if this wasn't enough, the staff was rude! so trying to be kind, i said the current thought on human sutures is to allow those with large sutured wounds to shower the day they were put in because often the risk of leaving the skin dirty is a bigger hazzard for source of infection than taking a shower with clean water. the woman says to me "well, he is a dog and you better be careful, he bites" any suggestions on a new vet? on a good note, breakfast at L.A. cafe after i dropped the dog off was great.

I don't know of a good vet in New Lenox as I have no experience with any of them. Way back when I actually had a dog we used Timberline on Frontage Road. Never had a problem with them, they took good care of our dog. Good luck finding one you like.

Cedar Way off of Laraway by the new Berkots store is excellent. I take my dog there, and have nothing but good things to say about them. There prices are reasonable. The staff are excellent and very caring. The Vet is very good, explains everything, and seems very accurate. He likes to draw pictures to explain, so be prepared to go home with notes. I am so happy with the service.

It's ruff trying to find a good vet in New Lenox. I think if you just retrieve your yellow pages, and bone up on your knowledge of local people, you won't be chasing your tail so much and barking up the wrong tree. Good luck, and when you have a problem like this, ask your paw, fathers know best.

I left Hickory Creek and started going to Cederway by Berkots. I have nothing but good things to say about everyone there. They are all very friendly towards my dog. I was paying alot of $$$$$$$ at Hickory Creek to find out what was wrong with our dog, and the Vet at cedarway made a few changes and we havn't had any more u.t.i problems with her. I am very glad I transfered the records to him. I promise you will be very pleased there.

I used to go to Animal Clinic of New Lenox on Cedar, but felt like they were always pushing to get as much money out of me as they could. Like, "your dog is completely healthy, oh but, we should run blood work" (worth $300). And then if I said no, they implied I was a bad owner.

I left Carey Animal Clinic because of the rude receptionists and Dr. Carey's greedy, unfriendly, standoffish manners. I brought my dog in that I had just adopted in to get neutered. At the time, he was a year and half. I know that dogs should get neutered as puppies unless you're breeding them, but I had just adopted him. She acted like I was an idiot; in fact, I have read tons about my dog and taking care of dogs, and I'm an ASPCA member. She never even introduced herself to me, she just whisked my dog off. I had no idea that I had just met Dr. Carey, I thought it was a vet tech. She never even introduced herself!!! I was appalled at how discriminatory the staff & Dr. Carey was about my dog. He's a huge Rott, but he's well behaved, friendly, and obedience trained. If she didnt want to care for all animals, she shouldn't have ever called it an "animal clinic," she should have named it a "cat clinic" or maybe she went into the wrong career.
I will NEVER go back to Carey again, and I strongly urge others to seek out a vet that cares.

I have been extraordinarily happy with Hickory Creek Animal Clinic. Because their vets and staff are so friendly and caring, there very busy; however, they make every opportunity they can to see everyone and take their time with their patients. I know I have seen the light on with people inside working late. They are really passionate about caring for their patients.

I know what your saying. My mother inlaw is deaf so I called there on cedar road for a appointment. They asked me if I would ask her to get a urine sample from her cat. My ? was how do you do that? lol

I left Carey Animal clinic for the same reason. Then they threatened me that I better get my cat and dog shots or they turn me in. Needless to say the dr. who lives next door seen some one steel my cat right off her porch. Then several weeks later I got a phone call stateing my wife called these certain people for our cat. They would not let me know who they were. I'd also watch 4paws to. I don't trust them either. Keep an eye out for your animals.

Yea, it was the same with our dog at Animal Clinic of New lenox. They tried telling us that our dog needed surgery that would have costed us over $2000.00. We then took him to another vet and he was put on antibiotics. He's healthy now, and hasn't had this much energy in years. I've heard many, many people complain about Animal Clinic of New Lenox, and there prices. I'll never be back.

First off I never said they were not friendly or they didn't care. I was "super discusted" of paying hundreds of dollars every time I went there and still not getting the problem solved. They repeatedly sent cells, bloodwork, and urine samples to the lab. This went on and on, only to put our dog on the same meds she started out with. I just got fed up with them .

We take our dog to Sackman Animal Hospital on Laraway, she is really great with the dog and very friendly. I have heard other's say that she is expensive though, I guess it might be worth your while to compare prices. Sorry about all of your troubles with your dog.

First off, I wasn't replying to your comment. Second, the post name is just what I had been using to post on other forums about other issues. I suppose that I should have changed it so as to not offend.

So, sorry about your experience. Veterinary medicine is an inexact science, since the animals can't tell the doctor what is wrong with them and so you just have to deal with it.

I still think that Hickory Creek is great.

I thought this thread was about vets and pets. Stay on topic, please.
Dr. Harold Webb is the senior vet in NL and has tended to our pets for 35 years. Before that, his father did the same. My faith and trust are with Dr. Harold Webb.
