I have now lived in New Lenox two full days and already seen what fine police we have. I woke up this morning to a parking ticket on my vehicle for no village sticker. Do they really have nothing better to do with their time? I have been there 2 days. Way to welcome me to the town Barney!

You should have 30 days to get one, so don't pay the ticket until you talk to someone at the station or village hall.

Why don't you just get a village sticker, politely explain to them that you just moved here and I bet with a smile on your face you'll probably get out of the ticket.

I do have 30 thirty days to get my sticker..and am getting the sticker today. However, to get rid of the ticket I needed to request a hearing first. Just found it odd that they really have nothing else to do but go run plates at 4am.

Quote from http://newlenox.net/vehicle_stickers.html

"New residents may purchase vehicle stickers for the discounted price of $15.00 if purchased within 30 days of moving into the Village. Residents who purchase a vehicle, may buy a vehicle sticker for the discounted price of $15.00 if bought within 30 days of the car purchase."

Surprised that they had nothing else to do @ 4am?

We are on the same time clock right? New Lenox @ 4AM is pretty dead.

Welcome. As a resident it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to follow the laws. You are mad because the police officers deligently enforce all of the LAWS. You are pissed because you got caught. I reside in New Lenox but work for a western suburb as a police officer. Here is a little tip. I bet your vehical is still registered to your old address. If you did not have time to go to the village hall and obtain a village sticker you surely did not have enough time to switch your plates over to your new address. So if your car was still registered to the old address and you had a current vehicle sticker on your vehicle you would not have had a ticket issued. Man up pay the fine and chaulk it up as a lesson learned. You either never purchased a vehicle sticker or your vehicle sticker was expired. No need to reply with any more excuses you got caught deal with it. I buy three stickers a year. You can too!

You were the one who posted on here complaining about the police before you knew what the rules were.

To "clearly" and "flip the bill"....

has it occured to you that people have jobs and can't drop everything to get a village sticker? I knew the rules, but still thanked people for helping with their information. I never said "how long do I have?" You are clearly clever cats that's for sure...Keep up the detective work ;p

Move to Manhattan, there is no village sticker. And the cops never go in any subdivision. They sit at the BP and hit on chicks. And everything is stuck in the 70's, like Burbank.

Didn't say that you should drop everything. Didn't say you are guilty of a crime. Don't see why the PD is at fault. You'll still more than likely get out of the ticket

Must be her time of the month. Tell your husband oh thatís right you don't have one. Hmmmm I wonder why? I bet it is your attitude. Suck it up babe. I know I know it is a mans world and you are trying to get by shed some crocodile tears and tell it to someone who cares. I work full time and a side job and still manage to find time to buy my stickers.

Now answer my original question. You have had enough time to come up with an excuse oh I mean an answer. Was your current sticker up to date, and if you have proof you only were there for two days (are you sure it was only two days) you can get the ticket tossed. So now you have it butch.

Welcome to New Lenox. Isn't it full of really nice people who don't at all feel they are above anyone? I'm sure you can get out of the ticket, but it will take you some time to deal with Barney. If you think the police are bad just wait and see how much you like the schools.
