i agree with you 100%. the way it is proposed is not right. we used to be able to offer wiv ers in certain states for pre excisting conditions but the State/Government forbid us to do this anymore...i also agree that controlled conditions treated with medications that are on the $4 list that you can buy at walmart should not be outright declined....each case should be looked at on an individual basis..i myself have pre excisting conditions but as you said, they are controlled, i see my doctor on a regular basis and i would be declined if it was not for my group coverage....i would like to see something to the effect that would please all, uninsured, people with pre excisting conditions and healthy people....i would also like to see something to the effect that doctors and hospitals can only charge a certain amount for procedures.....my daughter just had a baby and the bill we got was..if you have insurance you pay ..this amount....if you are private pay the bill was almost cut in half..what is that all about ? is that legal ? i dont think there is anything to please everybody but unfortunately my decision has to be no obama.<quoted text>
I am not an Obama fan, nor a supporter of Obamacare but I do believe that the current insurance system needs reform in the area of pre-existing conditions.
To be a healthy family with an insurance policy makes you very fortunate. But your luck could change on a dime with your next medical test, one bad car accident or the birth of your next child.
Simple blips in the radar like a false positive pap smear, a controlled chronic condition or a now totally cleared up problem can cause the insurance company to deny coverage. Even when people offer to pay more just to secure a policy, they are still denied.
I am certainly not saying that the overall cost will not rise. But when you work your whole life and follow all the rules of good citizenship, you should not be penalized and have to put everything you have worked for at risk, simply because you used your policy.
I hope you and I never need to feel the unfairness of the current system but we do owe it to ourselves and others to recognize the problem.
