Obama just announced he appointed bonehead Biden & his cabinet to put together a plan by the end of the year to go after your guns. Stock up on guns while you can. Obama is moving quick to stop you.

You're an idiot...it's not a plan to go after your guns. It's a ban on assault rifles & stricter guidelines on obtaining a gun.

I heard Obama announce that B.S. on the news. Obama stated he will be going after guns in his second term. I'm treating myself to an AR-15 for Christmas!

I really need to know what the purpose of the AR-15 purcahse is for. I am trying to be sincere here. Do you think you need it for some kind of apocolyptic event that may occur? Or is it just for the pleasure of shooting assault weapons at a gun range.

I'm being serious. I'm baffled by why these things are legal and who in the heck would even want one.

This is not political. I'm just here to learn.

Jack, many people treat guns as a hobby. Have fun collecting, and fun shooting them. You may have a different hobby like Motorcycles, Hot Rodding, Dirt Biking, etc.... Many people have guns for self protection too. That's really it.

Ps: Criminals have guns as human weapons.

Also... Ever notice that to stop a bad guy with a gun, it "always" takes a good guy with a gun?

Your just a City boy so you will never understand.
I grew up with firearms from living on the farm.
I also have a Colt AR-15 which I purchased in 1980.
It has never assaulted anything man nor animals.

When I left the military I knew I wanted one and 9 years later I bought one, along with many other firearms.
Just relax and go visit your wine bar or starbucks or what ever City boys do.

The best way to learn is through doing research. If I myself would start by looking up what the designation A.R.-15 originally stood for.

I'm not a gun owner myself but I believe in the right to bear arms, especially in this crazy world we live in. People should be able to protect themselves and their homes from criminals. I just wonder why the average person would want or need an assault weapon. I'm not buying the whole collector thing, sorry.

First off, i am tired of hearing about assault rifle bans when i believe that most people dont even know what an assault rifle is. To me, an AR 15 shouldnt even fall into that category. An AR 15 is a purely semi auto weapon, meaning it operates like a handgun. Pull the trigger once, it fires once. It is not a full auto weapon that can squeeze off 10 rounds per second. It isnt even capable of 3 shot bursts. It really isnt much different then a number of hunting rifles with the exception of its appearance. And to answer jacks question about why you would want one, for me, i just love shooting the ar15. In some states, i believe people can hunt with them too.

So i guess my point is that people need to do some research before they jump on the gun grabbing wagon. Its not like you can run down to cabelas and purchase a machine gun. You cant. You can purchase semiauto rifles that may look like machine guns but dont function the same. If you wanted to hurt people, you could easily do the same or more damage with a shotgun or a handgun as you could with an AR15.

If the NRA wasn't so devoted to representing the firearms and ammunition manufacturers, instead of their members, they would be proposing the legislation that would help keep guns away from criminals and crazy people and thereby removing the threat from their members. Instead, they have been trying to enable anyone who can throw money at their clients to have access to firearms.

This is against the interests of the NRA's four million individual members, and they set the conditions that have led to the current backlash.

I was thinking... If Obama was seriously intending to get our guns, would he put Biden in charge of that task? Really? <lol

I for one want the right not to be taken away. You never know who or what may come into power that may want to eliminate YOU. That's why we should have the right to an AR-15. That is why the right to own firearms was written into the constitution. To protect from Tyranny. When you say, "Oh, that could never happen here", you are wrong. It could happen here. Just my 2 cents.

I go to a blinking range about three times a year with my friends and my three sons. I have been doing this all my life. I started bringing my boys about 14yrs old. To be truthful, my wife is a nervous wreck and gives me a argument almost every time we go. She was not brought up with guns, and is honestly afraid of them. The appearance of my AR-15 scares her to death.

We have a ball Jack. Most of the time I rarely shoot because I'm supervising my boys for safety. We are out there with probably 25 other families on any given day. Never had a problem. We are all law abiding gun owners. The boys will set up targets like empty tide bottles, rubber balls. Bowling pins, etc, etc. We will spend the day out there. They will probably shoot near 800 rounds of ammo every time we go. We come home, I supervise the boys cleaning the weapons and I llock them back up in my safe. My boys are in their 20's now. We enjoy the hobby. It's good honest fun. We enjoy it and don't appreciate anybody taking that right away front us.

Without the NRA, the liberal democrats would have disarmed all Americans by now. They are a good force for the 2nd amendment preservation. Wake up John. You vote democratic, they all want to take your guns, then you place blame with the NRA? Typical liberal voter. you don't know who is really screwing you JOHN!

Where is the range? It's getting harder to find space to shoot rifles locally anymore. Plenty of spots for shotgun.

Why not AK-47s?
