Foreclosure lawsuits

Setting a construction timeline for the Plainfield site may be the least of Gas City’s worries right now.

Several foreclosure lawsuits were filed on Gas City properties this summer.

The suits were filed against Gas City owner William McEnery as trustee of the William J. McEnery trust.

Court files list foreclosure suits filed against properties in Willow Springs, Homer Glen, Lockport, Mokena and Frankfort in connection with unpaid loans totalling more than $43 million, according to published reports and court files.

McEnery, who was an original owner of the Empress Casino and the Joliet JackHammers, did not return phone calls seeking comment on the lawsuits and the future of the Plainfield location.

November 20, 2009 The Kiddieland trains are loaded on a flat bed trailer (right). Final destination unknown. The exact sale price of the entire train including track, signals, engines and cars is not known. It was said that this was sold for more than the Carousel at $320,000. The lucky purchaser is widely reported to be William J. McEnery of Frankfort Illinois, founder and president of Gas City (a chain of gasoline stations). We hope that Bill McEnery will make it available to the public in the Chicago area.

· A Gas City/Dunkin' Donuts location at 15060 S. Bell Road in Homer Glen.
· A Creamery ice cream shop, part of McEnery Enterprises, at 918 Timber Place, New Lenox.
· Two parcels at State Route 53 and Mississippi Road in Elwood.
The reasons for the alleged defaults are not specified in the notices regarding the Northern Trust and First Community foreclosure lawsuits. The properties in those complaints are also owned by the McEnery trust.

the more ya look...the deeper this dude is in it. and yet, he has a kiddie train and bell valley farms is still racing?

Most of the Gas Cities are independently owned and some people own more than one. The Gas City on Laraway & Lagrange- is struggling, operating with a skeleton crew. I also believe the owner is one of the owners of the Creamery (the ice-cream shops). I'm sure "GAS CITY" is not going anywhere, but some stations are struggling to stay open.
really? i wish legends gambling would let us bet on that....but they prolly wouldn't pay that either....

Stopped going to gas City the day after Hurricane Katrina when they raised the price of gas by over 40 cents a gallon in Tinley. That was the most underhanded thing I had ever seen. I now go out of my way to avoid Gas City.
bravo! good call! and so you won't be surprised by the rest of this thread. underhanded seems like a very good description. that company sure seems to like it that way. who is calling the underhanded shots AT THAT COMPANY?
