Anybody here about white panel vans backing into peoples driveways, pretending to be contractors and robbing their houses? Be alert!

No, haven't heard about that. Of course the village idiots aren't going to make it public because we wouldn't want NL to look bad. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, heard of the "Panel Van" robberies! Everyone in NL be aware! They back up, kick in the back door rob the house and are gone within 5 minutes! It looks like a construction crew doing some work, boy do they have you fooled!
Be on alert! CALL 911 if you have any doubt!

I'm guessing it's one of those windowless vans, thus nobody can see there are not work tools in there, stolen items instead.

Not only New Lenox but the outskirts of Manhattan. There is an empty house that is in foreclosure and there was a pickup with an enclosed trailer in the driveway. I went over to check it out and they were drilling the deadbolt off the back door. They claimed they were hired by the bank to change the locks. I went home and called Will County Sheriff. It took the cops one hour and 10 minutes to get there, but the men were gone 45 minutes earlier. So beware of this also. Two white males in their early 20's. No lettering on truck or trailer.

Times are tough, people will steal anyway they can. Just be aware of your surroundings. If it looks suspicious, call the cops!

Hey, Clyde did you paint that van over the weekend. I think that these hill-billies are catching on. I told you they were smart.

My husbands work van was broken into last night in the driveway of our condo in New Lenox. Some tools were stolen, but also his lap top computer. The lap top was given to my husband as a gift before he deployed over seas a few years ago, so it has alot of meaning to us. Breaks my heart that people do this type of thing

I heard there was a group in Frankfort that would case the neighborhoods going door to door looking to see who is home during the day and who is not. Apparently if you answer the door they will say they were looking for your neighbor but there was no answer...do you know when they'll be home. You'd be suprised how many people will just say Oh, they're gone during the day without thinking. Just be on high alert.

Hey Bonnie, why don't you take Clyde and ride out of town? You're not funny. If this happened to you, you would see how it feels to be violated. I hope they catch these punks. Maybe everyone needs to get a big ass dog to keep these punks from knocking on your door.

Beware of the ex cons hanging advertisements on your front door handles! Like they're not casing your house out! If you see someone suspicious, call the cops!

Thanks First Country Girl! Bonnie, you would feel the same if someone did this to you! The lap top is sentimental because when my husband was deployed with the Marine corps, it was how we kept in contact! Also it was a gift from his father.

It's TRUE! All the crap U find hanging on your front door is from felons on a work release program or recently let out. Beware, if they get a glimps into ur house, or see your kids...it's all over with! Watch out!
