Update email from church:
God continues to show his mercy for Ken, Karen and Katie Little as they move through their first brutal week since last Saturday's accident that claimed 9-yr-old Karly's life. Thanks for your prayers and support.
An update: Katie returned home from the hospital on Monday. Despite somehow ending up a long ways from the car she was seat-belted into, she escaped with only minor injuries. Ken's injuries were much more serious, but he sustained his surgery well, and was moved out of intensive care already on Tuesday. He's still in tough shape after his surgery, collapsed lung and four broken ribs, but his strength is slowly beginning to return. He hopes to be discharged sometime this weekend, although he will remain pretty weak for a while. Karen has benefited from a lot of support from family and friends, but this has obviously been a devastating week for her. Plans are currently being developed for a wake and funeral in a little over a week to allow more time for Ken to regain strength.
How can you help? There are several ways being developed to provide opportunities for you to show their family your support:
* Most importantly, pray for them. Pray for each of them as they help each other deal with their own unique pain at this time. Pray for the three of them as they re-settle as a family into a home that used to house a family of four. And pray for plans being made for the upcoming services.
* We have a team working on setting up a schedule for providing meals for the family at a reasonable frequency. We're working on offering an online signup to make it easier. We'll keep you informed when it's ready.
* The New Lenox Rotary Club established a memorial fund with Old Plank Trail Community Bank. Donations to the fund can be made at the bank or mailed to the bank. Checks should be made out to "The Little Family Memorial Fund". The bank's address is below.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

I don't know the family involved but read about this tragic accident in the newspaper. Obviously I want to send out my deepest condolences. I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a child.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if Ken is out of the hospital and how the family is holding up? I continue to keep this family in my thoughts and hug my own children a little more each day. Thank you.

from our church email:
"The Little family really appreciates all your prayers and support during this tragic time. Ken was able to return home over the weekend. He is making progress physically and is scheduled to have the stitches from his surgery removed today. Katie was able to return to school today. She is there for a half day as she has follow up doctor appointments this afternoon. Please continue to cover this family with your prayers."
