I agree with you New Lenox Mustangs. Also Mustangs only start their boys in second grade. So you could have only been a mustang for 7 years. The great thing about Mustangs that their are weight classifications. The teams they play are also in the same weight.
No I was a Mustang for 8 years, and have the trophy to prove it.

There are two programs in New Lenox, The New Lenox Mustangs Organization and the NLYFA. The Mustangs are an established program over 44 years strong. The Mustangs have age and weight brackets and players must be a certain age and weight. The NLYFA has "strippers" which means the player may be over the specified weight limit and is limited on what position they may play. The choice is yours as a parent at what age you want your child to start playing organized sports of any kind. I had 2 boys go through the Mustang program all 7 years and neither one received or got injured. Registration for the Mustang program is the last 2 Thursdays in July at Martino Jr. High from 6 to 9pm.

You may be right on part, but I will bet these men in your family are over 30yrs old the equiptment these days is much better to prevent injuries! Even in the last 10 yrs. And when these men played there wasn't 50-75 boys going out for the team cause if so, a kid with no prior experience wouldn't have a chance in hell on being a starter thats just how it is!

If bubba is 200 pounds as a freshman and can run half way decent, he's on, even if he rarely played.

However, if Aidan or Justin or whomever is only 120 but played since he was 7, well...he just ain't gonna make the team.

I'm not sure of the ego thing, but I have three kids in the Mustang program. I kind of wish I would have went with the Warrior or Knights program! I played with the NLM for eight years long ago WOW how things have changed. I feel the coordinators, and people running the program , have lost tolerance for children!

That is what someone who doesn't coach says...hey get off your lazy butt and help coach and then criticize what is going on. I know in many levels there are coaches with their sons on the 3rd string and there is a team that most of the coaches don't even have sons on the team.

B.S. The only coaches who have sons that are third string, are the ones who coach because his kid sucks, and he thought it would get him play time! There are coaches without kids on the team, and I commend that! Those are the type of coaches you want for your kids. Most of the other coaches do it only so they can sit at the bar, or go to work and tell people they are "coaches for football", and hope someone gives a crap! You might want to know a little something about the sport before you coach it!!!!!!!!!!
