Great idea, just not in the location where it's going in to. Wouldn't make more sense if it was built across the street instead?

Someone made a comment on Patch and said that Robin Ellis was a genius- sorry, I don't think much thought is put into planning this community. It's a mish mash of architecture and looks very sloppy. Just look around - Frankfort has a great village planner. Portillo's does not belong in the remaining out lot. There are houses that are right there and the families will have to put up with a lot more noise than they are now. This village doesn't care about the residents or architecture.

So they should just not build any commercial properties anywhere near houses? You're an idiot.

New Lenox is the new Orland Park with more construction, the light at Schoolhouse and Route 30 is retarded before and after school

There is no in between. You cry that we need more restaurants then when we get them, it's all negative. I think Portillo's will be a nice addition to New Lenox. What we don't need is anymore low life stores, AKA Goodwill

Don't put houses up next to vacant commercial property.Don't build your house next to an airport.I love how people think they own other people's property.

I don't believe that (the proposed Portillo's location) was commercial property when the houses to the north were built. It was farmland.
As a matter of fact, those homeowners were told (noting in writing) by a village official that if it was developed it would be residential.

Oh, by the way, I like Portillo's, but it should be by the hospital. I realize the developer wants to fill out the property, but it's much too crowded already.

I meant to the west, not the north.

And it should read '(nothing in writing)'.
Sorry (sheesh) bad day.

I am suprised at the negative comments being left about Portillo's. We have been trying to Bring Portillo's to Rockford since 2000 when Dick said he was going to build here. Nothing yet. There is even an online petition to bring Portillo's here. If you don't want this store - send it to Rockford - we would welcome one with open arms and plenty of business. http://bringportillostorockford.com/Page1.htm...

I would love a Portillo's here! No way they would get the normal business they are used to, but it will be great! Every other Hot Dog place for miles around might as well shut down and let the Pro take over....

I can't wait for Portillos to come. If Portillos doesn't go in that lot, something else will.

I can't believe the people of Rockford have a website to bring Portillos there.

You people have a Tiger Tail, isn't that enough? Greedy bastards.

Just what we need more good paying $8.25 / hr jobs. Sure hope the folks working there can pool their money and find a cheep apartment.

Don't get me wrong, I love their food but we need more manufacturing jobs to move in, not fast food.
