Tryouts for prospects are next Monday & Thursday at Lincolnway Central for 9 & 10U. I just looked on website and no fee for tryout. I am pulling my kid from Rebels and having him tryout for Prospects & Yellow jackets. Way too much daddy ball going on at the 9u rebels now. I can't bare to watch another season of 5 coaches who have no clue about baseball. If your kid isn't in the click, your kid doesn't play. I am utterly disgusted with the 9u black program. I
would rather pay the $500 difference so my son can actually learn and improve.
Go for it!! It amazes me that parents allow their kids to be in an organization that is suspended from CABA, leader kicked out of Kii (which he started), isn't welcome in I80, and has problems with NIML. Great organization to be a part of. Character at it's best!! Have fun!!

Wow I'm actually a member of the 9U Rebels Black team i'm suprised by these comments You obviously have a right to your opinion but strongly disagee with you For the record, my husband is not a coach i saw all kjds sit the bench, in fact the managers son sat as much if not more than any other. I also saw kids that got chances to play multiple positions. We played teams that kids never moved around. For a team that experinced no issues or drama all year, it surprises me to read this. My suggesrion if you haven't already done so, is too contact the manager and speak with him instead of bad mouthing a good program. Im sure he wouldn't want you back if you are that unhappy and it would be a more classier way for you to handle your disappoinment.

Good chance that this isn't a Rebel parent at all. Prospects are known for this type of behavior to try and cause problems for the Rebels. You know your team. Don't let a team that is known for hitting others behind give you a moment of doubt.

Your kid the shortstop for 9u Red? I've heard theres a kid on 9u Red whose dad is shopping him everywhere but that dad has gotten into fights at 8u in the dugout with the manager. Heard he's been shopped to Mokena, too. Yellowjackets aren't real good but the Prospects are okay at that level. Mokena is pretty good. Lots of teams out there. Tryout season is here. Good luck. Daddy ball blows.

Glad your experience was better than mine. When your 9 year old son comes to you and says he is not happy, its time to make a change. I agree, all kids played different positions, but same batting order every game. Some kids could make errors, while others were benched. Yes, managers kids sat at times, but batted what 5th or 6th in the lineup. R u kidding me? What about the others players who dad coach?? Hmmmmmmmm, they played key spots all year. Funny how manager cut kids or moved them to the red team, but had a blog on his webpage looking for one more player. I also read that two Kids made the black but one moved to red for issues with the black coaches and the other jumped ship to the prospects. What does that tell you? I am glad your son likes it, but we r moving on! No drama for you? Where were u sitting all year? I know at least three kids leaving due to the bs and kids not being taught anything. Whatever happened to the pitching and hitting coaches that were supposed to show up at the practices? My mood and the several others will be better off.

I am a parent of a 9u player. I would never let my kid play for the prospects and definitely not rebels black.

You must be the 3rd base coachs wife. I heard he is applying for the cubs job. He and other coaches worse than Korbel.

STFU. Nobody is worse than Korbel. No coach on 9u Rebels ever swore at umps.

I love how the phrase Daddy Ball has become a scape goat for parents whose kids arent as good as the others on team. As competitive as sports are i dont believe if your kid was a better player than the 5 your angry about that any coach wouldnt play him. C'mon, get real. What kind of lesson are you teaching your son...your not happy so lets change teams? What about, ok Johnny lets work harder, lets listen at practice to get better, lets give 100% so you can develop and earn the spot you want...you are a coward for not addressing concerns eith your coach. Anonymous posts? If your son cant cut it on this good team what makes you think he can make it on a great team like the Prospects?

When u play teams and slaughter them 24-0 just goes to show why your record is just that. The schedule that rebels play is brutal. I heard they lost to the yellow jackets this year and almost lost to the rebels red too. Feel free to check out the rebels website and look at all the batting averages and eras for each kid. Why are those posted for everyone to see? You all think korbel is crazy? Even he has enough sense to not post that. I have seen korbel in action and him yelling at umpires is your complaint? I suppose rebels coaches don't yell at umpires? Oh wait, too busy yelling at the kids. U can brag and boast about rebels black record til your blue in the face, but kids are not improving. Playing top notch competition is what makes gets improve. Not a winning record. However, that's how the rebels roll. They just want to say we had a 33-12 record. Really really sad.

You are absolutely fing crazy. Don't complain about the Rebels and brag about the Prospects. The Rebels might not be perfect, but Korbel is out of his crazy mind. He has been kicked out of or suspended from just about every organization/tournament he has ever been a part of. That includes the Mustangs football. The Prospects have the #1 reputation for only caring about the win at any cost. They couldn't possibly have an easier schedule. Listen, Prospect parent, just worry about your own organization!!

Unfair comment. Yellow Jackets and Rebels Red are both solid baseball teams. Awesome how you just want to throw all these kids and teams under the bus. Seems to me the Prospects were a good but not great this past year also. Who the hell are you? My son plays in the I80 league with them and they are a talented team. They played all I80 teams. What do you want them to do? In my opinion, Travel teams are watered down all over. 5 strong on each team then a total drop off. One or two Aces per team if you are lucky outside of the obvious elite teams which normally pull from all over and not just a single cummunity. It's not what it used to be. Maybe good as more kids want to play more baseball or bad as it sounds like in this case, parents arent happy so they just start another team and dilute the talent. Your kid not being on this team is not the end of the world, confused as to why you feel the need to bash this program. Just move on.

I'm surprised at all of the unhappy people on here. We are just finishing our 1st season with the 9U Prospects and all of this Prospects bashing is very unncessary. My son had a nice season and has improved greatly from the winter training and throughout the season. The coaching in this program has been great as all coaches are required to be N.Y.S.C.A. certified in addition to being First Aid certified or they cannot be on staff at any level. From what I'm reading, some of these other organizations it appears just have dads with team hats and are not real coaches.
As far as all of this Korbel bashing, he coaches his team and let's all of the other level's coaches coach their own. I can't believe all of the lies that I've read on this blog. We are very happy and I recommend whatever team your child plays for, support them and if you're not happy, go somewhere else but there's no need to bash a PROGRAM just because you don't like 1 of their members. It's unnecessary to paint with a broad brush as many of the members of this organization are fantastic people!

Change and Drama. The Two Constants in Travelball.

By Gotíem Baseballís Chief Baseball Guy Gabriel Rios

We love travel baseball. I mean we really freaking love travel baseball. We love the competitiveness, the camaraderie, the family bonds, the athleticism, the power, the grace, the whole sch-bang. Just like with anything though travel baseball has an under belly. An ugly side, a side that can be described in two words Change and Drama. Those two adjectives are constant with any team in any age division anywhere. And once you get that, itís easier to digest and it no longer becomes a source of stress but rather a source of strength and understanding. You see no matter what team your son plays for, that team will eventually have itís fair share of change and drama. Some teams hide it better than others but trust us itís there. What is important to understand is that almost all drama and change is caused by the parents & coaches. The kids just want to play for the most part. So now that we understand we are to blame for the drama and change it would also help to understand that we as parents are only trying to do what we think is best for our kid. Right, wrong or indifferent once you have a firm grasp on that concept it becomes a lot easier to deal with any situation thrown in your direction. Repeat after me:ďIím only trying to do what I think is best for my kids.Ē Below Iíve come up with what I feel are the best ways to handle the Drama & Change associated with travel baseball.

Drama:
Face it, some people are just drama. There is nothing you or I can do about it. Donít you find it odd that the people who constantly say they hate drama are the ones that have the most of it in their lives. That is not a coincidence. The ďDrama ParentsĒ will not be happy anywhere they go and they will sink your teams ship if they are allowed to stay. The best thing to do when confronted with ďDrama ParentĒ is to not allow yourself to be dragged into their drama. Misery and Drama love company. Donít feed the trolls and hopefully they will get the picture. If they donít get the picture remind them that there are no contracts in travel baseball. If they are truly unhappy where they are they should consider packing up and and moving on. Understand this though, there will be times you hate your sonís coach and thatís OK. There will be times every parent on your team annoys the hell out of you and guess what THATS OK. You need to view your travel team as one big family. Just like with any family, things wonít always be rainbows and cotton candy. Unlike your family though you can pick your travel ball team. The point is thisÖ..Donít Be Drama. No one wants to hear or deal with your constant negativity. What you feel or think should always be secondary to what your player feels and thinks. Do not brain wash them with your BS. If they are happy playing where they are playing then shut up and just be a source of encouragement not a source of drama.
