wow- sorry I asked. I never stated that my son was going to play in the major leagues- and I didn't ask for anyone's opinion on rec ball. I simply asked what teams were in the area- and I think only 2 people actually answered the question. As for peoples negative comments about teams and coaches- no offense, but I am capable of forming my own opinion, and not judging based on some bitter and resentful parents who for all I know are upset that their child didn't make a team. For those who addressed my post- thank you for your response.

It seems these teams give parents an excuse to gather and drink...a lot!(and at games). It can get cliquey and your kids are exposed to groups of adults gathering after games, on weekends, just drinking until they are stone drunk. You don't have to do this, but most do.

keep it clean boys. Ive had 3 boys go through travel ball, 1 left. 2 Rebels, 1 Celtic. Played Heat for 1 year. Ive seen allot of coaches and crazy parents. Most coaches are good, but Ive seen some bad ones. Bottom line, if the coaches will not share the financials with the team, they are dirty. End of story. All the suff i hear about Korbel, all relates to money. If he shared the financial details, shut it up. And if he pitches kids nore than 60-70 pitches a day, get your kid off his team.

A whole lot of local folks are very sorry they ever got their sons into the rat race.

So much of it is fathers living vicariously. For you Obama voters, the word refers to parents who were largely horses**t players and will do anything to grab the glory they weren't good enough to have by relentlessly pushing their kids to the brink.

Baseball isn't the only sport around here that has these cretin parents. Mustang football is loaded with them, too. In fact, some of the jackoffs who are bellowing during kids' football games are the same oafs who are screaming all the way through their boy's baseball games.

Raise your child with a healthy amount of realism, a lot of humility and respect, and a strong knowledge of right from wrong. You'll all be far the better for it when your kid is an adult.

Oh yea, one more thing: don't be such a goof that you embarrass your kid in public.

Do some parents drink at the games? Absolutely. Does every parent, absolutely not. Clearly those people who have to have a drink in their hand at 9am during their kids baseball game have a problem. When we travel to other states for tournaments some parents play bags and have a beer or two. No one is falling down drunk, or takes it to far. It is the exact same thing if you were sitting at home having a barbecue with your neighbors. You may give up a lot when having a kid in travel ball, but you also gain a lot. Most of our team is like one big family, due to the fact that we spend so much time together. These boys have made friendships that will last a lifetime, and so have most of the parents. We have seen each others kids grow up, each others families grow, and have been there for each other when needed. So those of you who speak bad of the "travel baseball" life, I feel sorry for you. Your team must not be as close as ours.

Bottom line is this: Yes, you do give up a lot of your time, but its not in vein, you get a lot back in return.

I love the volunteer field work days some of the puss ball fathers show afriad to get dirty or have no apptitude to do manual or mechanical work. Or they just want their money back so they sneak off 20 minutes into the work day after they have signed in.

Hopefully the loud moulth coaches don't get into a fight with someone who really knows karate instead of claiming to last last year the guy was all talk when the fight was about start after the drunk insults started flying. Sooner or later someone gonna get hurt in a bar fight or a drunk driving accident on the way back from hooters with the kids or an unsupervised kid will get hurt while the parents or chaperons are loaded.
