Prospect Parent

My son plays for the Prospects, and he loves it. He went straight from rec ball to the Prospects and has learned so much in the amount of time that he has been there. This is the only program that he has tried out for, and given the option this season- he did not want to play anywhere else. As for "elite"; my personal opinion is that there are no elite programs until you get to at least the 14U level. These are just kids playing ball; all still learning the game. There is no doubt in my mind that there are some players on the Rebels and Yellow Jackets and other programs that are just as good, if not better than some of the Prospect's players. Who cares. They are boys. Let them be boys, let them play baseball. My issue with some of these posts is that people are bashing me. Not directly, but indirectly by criticizing the Prospects parents for "throwing money away" and being taken advantage of. I have talked with friends who have kids on some other programs, and while the Prospects may be more expensive than some programs, they are also comparable to others. Besides that, it's my money and I'll spend it how I see fit. I don't care how all of you spend your money- so why does it bother you so much how I spend mine? Do I agree with every aspect of the Prospects, maybe not; but I'm sure the same could be said for every program. Overall, I believe that the money is being allocated appropriately. There is no way that I would spend $50k on a vehicle that serves the same purpose that a $25k vehicle does, but I'm not going to go on topix and bash everyone who drives expensive vehicles. It's their money to spend how they want. As for the competition, do the Prospects play some inferior teams? Yes. But so do all of the programs. We also play some of the top teams; and we do well against them. We play Homer, Sparks, Lenz Field, Upper Deck, Tornados, Mavericks, E Sox, Tigers, Edge, just to name a few- and we perform well against them. Its no secret what tournaments we play in- its posted on our website at the beginning of the year, but you all know this because you apparently spend entirely too much time on our site. We play in some of the top tournaments and your programs have every opportunity to enter the same tournaments that we play in, so why don't you? And don't say its because they have weak teams in them, because we all know thats not true. My guess is that your program doesn't want to enter a tournament that the Prospects are in. Its like the saying, "its better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." For you- its better to stay out of the tournament and appear a weaker team than to enter the tournament and remove all doubt.

True. They would get their asses kicked if they were playing the Rebels or the Sparks.

does it really matter, there are a few morons on here that will say anything so who cares. Pretty soon someone will probabaly say all Prospect teams will have gone winless last season so why even humor them and respond to the ridiculous statements.

I doubt that a Rebel wants to sniff a Prospect or a Prospect wants to sniff a Rebel. They just want to play the best baseball they can against each other and then maybe have a sleepover together.

Assuming you are only a parent and not steve, I think you need to consider the fact that most of this talk is aimed at your head coach. Whether you like it or not, you cannot deny the fact that there are an awful lot of people out there who feel as though he has wronged them in one way or another. We are talking about players and parents from many different age groups starting with his older son. We are talking about nearly every other coach in the illinois area, not just new lenox. All of these people are saying the same things. He treats kids like crap, his finances are extremely questionable, and he plays horrible competition. Is everyone out there just dead wrong on this stuff? You are correct, you do have the right to continue to give him your money. We have the right to spread the word on what he is all about.
Now, I am not sure what age group you are from but if you are still convinced that you are playing good teams then you must not have much knowledge of baseball. Each decent team that you mention were probably played once. That means 10 to 15 competitive games out of 75. Is that a good schedule?
Also, you might want to watch you kid's arm with coach k of your son pitches. He will throw the same two or three kids their max innings every weekend. Then he'll turn around and throw those same kids in meaningless niml games during the week. All because he only cares about his record and has no confidence in his kids. Of course if you are with 12u you know that his son would be the one exception to that rule. He gets his innings, earned or not. I guarantee that the prospects had at least one kid at each age level that threww 120+ innings last year.
Good luck to you.

Rebel baseball is the best around. The coaches, board members are in for the kids. Some teams players and coaches have left over the years, but this is still the best program around. All these coaches that left started here, where they learned all that they know. These coaches learned from the previous coaches and board members on how to treat these kids. Most of these start up teams in the area were Rebels at one point or another

Yeah right! They are in it only for their kids! Daddy ball at its best. Alot of the coaches kids couldn't make other teams and only play because daddy or daddies best friend is the manager. give me a freaking break.

lets just all agree to disagree. otherwise this thread will just go on forever. Good luck to all the programs: Rebels, Yellowjackets, Celtics, Blue Demons, Blaze, Badgers, Prospects, and any that I forgot. I hope you all have great winter training and even better seasons. Most importantly, I hope all of the boys have fun and learn- after all, thats what its all about.

Until the Rebels get rid of the every team for themselves platform they won't be shit. Too many different directions from coaches who just want to take care of their kids and their good friends kids. What a effin joke!!

Nothing is more of a joke than parents who are KNOWINGLY paying their coach's mortgage just so their kid can be on a team that has a good record on paper, but the rest of the baseball community has no respect for.

Kujawa us nowhere near a baseball team of any sort. He ran off with some homewrecker and moved to Chicago. Sadly, the antics he displayed have ruined opportunities for his son to play on a traveling team. Additionally, I think the proof is in the pudding with the coach that left Victory. I don't think he had to "say" anything. The truth was told on the diamond.
