My children will not be playing travel baseball when they are of age. It appears adults have ruined this sport for children in our area. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I can't believe so many parents are behaving in this inappropriate fashion.
Just another spot for someone who wants to play. Is anyone crying because of this?

I think that everyone has been warned about the prospects and the way they run thier organization. It is now up to the parents wether or not they want to be involved Many parents out thier think like korbel and believe their son is going pro so let those parents stay and all normal parents can run before they hand over any payment. There are plenty of other good organizations to play for. I do not believe however that some of the post are appropriate. Leave the kids and your shit out of it!

This guy is too much, and illiterate. Go to this website which I guess is suppose to promote him and his many business ventures. I'm guessing the only what he makes money is player fees.

You go to the website and it is black. I guess he is deciding where to put all the money before he opens the website. What is belly button ball?

If I had read the postings in this forum I might not have taken my son to the Prospects tryouts this summer. Trying to change the mind of the anti-Prospect folks may be futile, but I want other readers to hear the perspective of a family new to the team.

My son participated in the Prospectsí summer workouts and found them more positive, instructive, and effective than any coaching in his past. He improved significantly in a short time and Iím proud to say that he made the team.

What attracted us is the fact that no youth baseball organization in the state of Illinois had all of their teams ranked in the Top 10 by the Amateur Baseball Report besides the Prospects. These rankings aren't achieved by playing ďeasyĒ teams.

Commitments and fees are explained the moment a player is invited to join the team so no one has a right to take issue with them retrospectively. Their fees are comparable to my sonís 2011 travel team so itís far-fetched to believe that anyone in the organization is getting rich.

Character development is a vital aspect of athletic success. I believe this to be a key to the Prospectsí accomplishments and I donít mind paying a nominal fee to support it. The cost of the education materials should not come out of the pockets of the volunteer coaches.

I canít yet address issues of coach bias, but accusations of "daddy ball" are rarely productive. Youth sport exists because of the efforts of volunteers. Parent coaches will always come with the territory.

Travel baseball isnít for everyone. Itís competitive, costly and time consuming. Instead of spending hours taking cheap shots on the web, the naysayers should simply find a different team, league or sport instead of trying to hurt the children, families and coaches committed to the Lincoln Way Prospects.

when you are talking about your fees make sure you mention all of the mandatory fundraising. Also, don't forget to clarify that these are above and beyond your fees and that your fundraising dollars do not reduce your fees like every other team does. When its all said and done you'll pay twice what you thought you would. Does everyone know that steve gets a "stipend" for coaching the teams that his son doesn't play for? That is a fact that he doesn't explain at his parent meeting.

Wow! I'm really Brad F., not Coach Korbel. Life's too short to go tit-for-tat with someone obsessed with slandering the Prospects. I just wanted the rest of the world to know that this is a great team and to not be deterred by this bizarre vendetta. My wife and I attended the first team meeting last night in which all fees, fundraisers, philosophies, expenditures, strategies, etc., were thoroughly explained and are completely appropriate. They've assembled a team of great coaches and we're excited for the 2012 season!

If you are the kind of parent that finds it more important to be ranked than have your kid around a good role model, you go for it. I personally wouldn't let my kid be anywhere near him for all the wins in the world. It amazes me what people find to be the priority as their money is being stolen and they are being lied to. Don't you listen when the man talks? He is the best baseball politician out there. He says what you want to hear. It is all bs. Just a snake slithering around you parents.

When I hear of a player that has to repeat 9u travel 3 times, I think great coaching. What is that doing to this boy's confidence and self esteem when he can't move up to 10u? What are the parents thinking? Hello, Steve doesn't think your kid is good enough, but he wants your money for as long as possible. How can you stay with a program where Steve literally lied to your face and manipulated you? Your son is a great ball player and there are many out that that would love to have him on their team. Get away from the cult. Making this boy team captain doesn't make the way he has been mistreated okay. Please go to Prospect detox. I promise you will be okay in the end. I promise your son will be better off anywhere else.

Promises, promises... what awesome team are you with that's so much better? If you don't answer my question I'll assume that's because you're on a team that you are not proud of.
