I would like to start a discussion about the resent changes in personal and proposed addition of an operations manager. I would like our discussions to be factual and without name calling and unfounded accusations, just facts. Topics we can discuss: What really happened with Al; Who replaced him; Is the board really considering an operations manager; What is involved with that position; Who is being considered; Is the Chiefís job in question; who would replace him; Does the board post minutes from their meetings; etc.?

Can we do this?
I dout it

You are about to open a can of worms on this site. You should just call the department and hope for the best. Good luck

You will never get an answer from the board, they do not have time for anyone or anything other then their own politial and personal wants. As for the operations managers job the president of the board wants it and the job description was written for him and as of today you do not have to be a paramedic because the president of the board is not nor has ever been one. He has also obstained at meetings from voting on the job and has been talking to the contract service about the job and thats fact. No one knows about Al or will say why he got the ax and if anyone is filling his job it is most likely a contract person. As for the chiefs job, here is what will happen and bet me it don,t.The president will get the operations managers job and within a month or two the chief will most likely get the ax and guess who has wanted and stated to everyone that someday he would be fire chief, the president of the district, no the board does not post meeting minutes they only have secret meetings and make flapjacks. There you have the truth without accusations or name callling, just the facts.

Wasn't this the same board you changed the testing qualifications mid-stream so Al would meet the qualifications. Then they hired Al when other applicants had way more education and experience? Just asking!

Dear I Dout it,
From reading other posts relating to NLFD I would have to say the can was opened a long time ago. With that being said, I would like to have a site where we can have a civilized discussion.

Dear Answer,
Thank you.

Can anyone add to Answers post?

Who is the president of the board of trustees? What is his background? What does he do for a living? What are his qualifications for the operations position? Formal Education? Level of fire service training? Anyone know with certainty?

The test was changed after they figured out Al would not meet the requirements, so in the middle of the testing process the qualifications were changed.
how

Fire board chief resigning - to work for district
The president of the New Lenox Fire Protection District board has resigned his position to become a contract district employee.
As of April 15, Bob Fronek has taken over as the operations manager for the fire district and now has to answer to his former colleagues.
"This is a job I looked at for a long time, If it would mean throwing my wife, mother and kids in front of a train I wanted this job and I lied, cheated and stole to get it..
Fronek has served the fire department for 35 years as a thief, liar, scam artist and back stabber. In 1996, he was demoted for running his mouth off.
"I know scams, and I am an operator he said. Finances or "pinching pennies" if it involves money and itís missing somehow I am involved..
"No one has more way of screwing the people or the fire district," Trustee Joe Levey said. "It made sense to us. We do not have any common sense. Hiring this guy as operations manager is typical of how stupid the board of trustees really are."
"This will be good for a laugh," Trustee Skip Minger said.
According to board vice president Glen Krohn, Fronek told him to vote for the job. Bob told me vote for him.
Minutes of the March 7 fire board meeting stated that three members - Krohn, Tom Sauter and Roy Minger - voted to allow Kurtz Paramedic Service to begin a search for someone to fill the operations manager's spot. Fronek abstained, and Levey was absent. The position was not posted for anyone else to apply for and Fronek suddenly got a coughing spell when it came time to discuss the position.
Board members - minus Fronek - set the criteria for the position, which was not advertised and only Fronek had the qualifications for.
Officials let Kurtz handle the interviewing and hiring. Only Fronek was interviewed because the board wanted it that way with former president Fronek giving his blessing.
Kurtz currently provides 37 full-time contract employees for the district. Tom Vana, of Kurtz, said the job was posted for a couple of weeks inside a toilet stall at his funeral home, and Fronek was the only applicant who met the criteria.
"Fronek is the tops when it come to being a con artist. There is no hidden agenda here," Vana said. "He is deceptive and certainly deserves a pat on the back for this con job. Fronek and I have not always been on the same page, but I firmly support him as long there is money in it for both of us."
Chief Jeff Swanson said Kurtz set Fronek's salary, and Vana would say how much Fronek is being paid. But officials said he will make more than he would selling pornography out of his car trunk in t back of the fire station .
Fronek said he never participated in any discussions related to the operations manager's position and abstained from all votes. He also said he brushes his teeth 3 times daily, eats all his vegetables and helps old ladies cross the street.
"I really look forward to this. I got a scam going right now," wait till Iím fire chief he said.
After his first board meeting since resigning, Fronek said he already missed being part of the board.
"It's hard to sit in a meeting and not say anything. This whole thing is eventually going to turn around and bite me in the ass," he said.
