Shakeshaft, what a great name for a sexual abuse expert. Did Newsday use her to add some comic relief to the story? Certainly there must be an expert or two on Long Island they could have interviewed for the story. I'm old Professor Pudpuller or Doctor Spankhiney would have lent some expertise.

This is the garbage that the schools hire. With all the interviews and they give and the screening they hire this. There are nice people looking for positions and this garbage gets hire. I'm sure you can pick up that something is not right you are all educators.

First of all, if the "expert" is a woman, in this case I'm not listening.
I can think of a number of teachers that I had in high school where NOTHING would have been better for my self esteem and development than for them to....you know.
And I certainly would not have gone bragging to friends or spilling the beans to daddy.
I've heard of cases where boys had their teachers. They seem to where it as a badge of honor. Some girls do too, but I absolutely think that behavior by a male teacher is criminal. Yeah, IMHO there IS a double standard, if it is indeed consensual.

You are correct, he should held responsible for his actions, but not to the extent that his feeling are hurt. A few sessions with a good shrink will go a long way to restoring his self-esteem and bring closure to this matter.

As usual, the anti-sex crowd exaggerates, while employing jargon to hide the paucity of their ideas.
As a society, we have agreed that sex between those in authority and those under that authority is verboten because it *may* not be truly consensual, not because it *never* is.
High school students are sexually mature, even if they're not legal adults, and you can be quite sure that many (most) of them know exactly what they're doing when they boink the teacher. No, it's usually not to get better grades; it's because the teacher is good looking and everyone likes having sex with good looking people.
Nonetheless, I have no sympathy with the teachers who get involved sexually with students. They know what the rules are, they know why we have those rules, and they chose to flout them. Too bad. But let's not pretend that the students are innocent little snowflakes where sex with teachers is concerned.
