<quoted text>Would he have been the Kicker and played on the Ken-Hi football Team his junior-senior year? The Field Goal, Extra Point, Kick off and Punter was a soccer player from England, can't remember his name..........
The ken Hi kicker that I remember throughout my 3 years in high school was Donny Wall and Tommy Carion. I think Wall place kicked and Carion punted.
The soccer player was Terry Korscelas(sp). I think he started school in either our jr. or senior year.

Ron Sanders became an evangelist.
Ron Sanders was my cousin. The limp was from polio in the early '50's.
When you say he became an evangelist are you sure you're talking about the same Ron Sanders?

I was sure of the name Terry but not sure of the last name spelling. Terry was there in his Jr year. I was a sophmore that year and got canned before the season started. There was a disagreement about 200 laps to run. I did about 25 and told Touchston to do the rest. I probably stilll have 175 laps to run. I better get started at once......The coaches were very pleased to see him show up and he did have a pretty good leg. Frank Zito was doing some kicking to. Who did what???? but Terry K was a pleasant surprise to the team and was used in some kicking capacity.

After checking my 55,56 yearbooks, I'm slightly incorrect again. Terry Karselas was on the football team in 55. He's nowhere to be found in 56, so he didn't graduate with our class. I'm guessing he was in the U.S. for a short time to play soccer.

If you would like me to post a copy of that poster on my New Ken web:
www.parsec-santa.com/NewKensigton.html - send me a JPG file and I will put it on the site and give you credit for the poster. If you check out the site, there is a contact form you can send to me and I will send you an email address for the photo.

Sam-

The poster is out for framing. When I get it, I'll send it to your site. It is really cool. It has an old fashioned fire truck going down the street with a Dalmation dog chasing it. The colors are vibrant. The original owner really took good care of it. I got it from an antique dealer. He had bought it out of a NK estate. I'm sorry that I missed the estate sale, LOL.

It was kind of eerie. I have saved a spot on my waiting room wall for 15 years. I wanted that space to be filled with some kind of local artifact. When I spotted this poster, I knew that my wait was over.

Heres an interresting story about Tommy Carion. I was good friends with his brother Billie. Tommy as everyone remembers was very fast think he only weighed 120 dripping wet. Anyway he went to Arizona State maybe same time as JP Drake. In a game he caught a pass on about the ten yard line he was turned backwards didnt have momentum to turn around so he out ran defender backwards for ten yards and scored. We all didnt believe Billy when he told us cause he did tend to lie. But he brought us a local paper article from Tempee Az that had a picture to show it was true Tubby

Tom Carion brings back a lot of memories. I don't know much about his post high school days, as I was out of the country during his college days. I thought he attended WVU like his kids but I could be wrong. We played basketball on the tradeschool team together. I recall once when he destroyed a kid on the basketball floor at Parnassus gym in about 30 seconds, before anyone could pull him off. He was quite a guy. He could hold his own throwing horseshoes against anyone. I saw him fast pitch in a local softball league and he was as fast as anyone in the league. His football playing is known to all us old geezers too. He was as good a fisherman as anyone I ever knew. He introduced me to the first spinning rod and reel that I ever saw. He made the Daily Dispatch once for catching a huge catfish by the old lead works. He claimed his spinning rod allowed him to cast farther out where the fish were bigger. I saw him fishing in Memorial Park back when it was stocked with carp every summer. Hundreds of kids lined the creek but nobody came close to Tom in catching fish there.
May he rest in peace.

Did you know his old man. I think his name was Tony. Man there was a rough guy. He fought in the Golden Gloves in Pittsburgh. Love to fish and chew snuff. Had the foulest mouth. Said what he wanted and didnt care who was there. I remember the football games Tommy and JPDrake would sub for each other in the game. Wnenever Coach Fletcher would take Tommy out and put JP in Tony woud yell out "thats it take out my boy and put that mf n----- in" while he was surrounded by black people. LOL That was Tony he didnt care always said his piece. Tubby

I knew Tony, but not very well. My father was good friends with him. He had Tom in the gym he ran on Stevenson Blvd when Tom was in 3rd or 4th grade. The last I ever heard of Tony was told to me by a person that had a camp in Elk County, near my camp. Tony was supposedly spending a few nights sleeping in the middle of a swamp in a hammock with a mosquito net draped over it. He was after some huge fish that were in the area and he wanted to be there at the crack of dawn til dark fishing for them. When I heard the story, I didn't doubt it for a minute. That was the Tony that I remember.
