"Residents of the New Kensington portion of Virginia Drive petitioned council to block off the street to reduce the high volume of traffic they say speeds through their neighborhood between Craigdell Road and Lower Burrell."

http://triblive.com/news/2151724-74/burrell-c...

Virigina Drive is a poorly-maintained road that is about as easy to navigate as a minefield. I cringe when I have to turn on to it, and drive about five miles per hour under the speed limit simply because only total idiots would drive any faster and risk damage to their vehicles.

Another article in the Valley News quotes one of the busybodies behind this petition, Mike Langer calling the road a "racetrack."

A post-apocalyptic race-track, maybe.

This busybody told the Valley news that between 6:30 am and 9am there is a "dangerous torrent" of traffic that is so bad he can't back out into the street, and that these people are "speeding" "to bars."

It doesn't seem to occur to idiot Langer that all those people "speeding" in a "dangerous torrent" so bad he can't back out between 6:30 and 9am are people who actually live up on that hill, residents of the various neighborhoods off of Chester and Craigdell roads who are just trying to get to work.

I wonder if he, the mayor or the idiots on City Council can actually point to a specific traffic incident or instance of speeding to justify what they're saying is an "imminent" danger to children such that everyone other than these 31 busybodies should be inconvenienced.

Unbelievable.

Langer really thinks people are speeding to bars at 9AM? All the people that signed the petition need to get a life.

Nk wants to block it off so Nk residents can't escape into LB.......

I have no love for Langer after the last election. He wrote a letter to fellow democrats asking them to write in a vote for Eli Evankovitch, a republican for state representative even though there was another write in candidate who was a registered democrat. Evankovich funded his campaign with money from the coal and gas industry that wasn't from his district. Let's get a local back in the house and I hope the speeding continues in front of Langer's house.

I got that letter and Langer is an ass for sending it. I have no respect for him.

Mr. Evankovitch has been a fine representative for our district and is, in fact, a "local." He and his family are from Murrysville. Postive change isn't coming to this area by sending useless democrats like John Pallone to the State Legislature.

I'm not a fan of Langer on the matter of Virginia Drive, but he made very positive changes in NK during his time - the demolition of a bunch of condemned properties, for one.

For my money, I'll take Eli and Langer.

Sorry, Eli is a hack who is bought and paid for by "party interests"--polluters, privatizers, and lobbyists. He was elected to rubber stamp the interests of the powerful.

Don't believe me look at his funders:

PENNSYLVANIA REPUBLICAN PARTY
Party Committees
2010 20 $64,013
HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN CMTE OF PENNSYLVANIA
Party Committees
2010 16 $36,911
AQUA AMERICA

Over $100,000 from party interests that he will need to repay with favors.

Let the democrats ( mafia) continue to control NK and Westmoreland County! They have done a great job the last 20 years!!!! Almost all of NK and most of Lower Burrell are on the government dole--- let the taxpayers ( working people) pay for their laziness! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe

See the squiggly thing at the end of the sentence? It's called a "question mark". It indicates that the sentence is not a statement, but a question.
