I truly think Vermont officials need to find something better to do with their time. I got fined back in 1998 for riding on County Road in Pownal with an ATV. At that time, Travis Buttle specifically told me that it was okay to ride Sucker Pond trails, but not on County Road, as it was considered a state highway. In 2002, I was then fined more that 3 times the original fine on County Rd (again by Buttle) for riding Sucker pond. He stated to me that it was okay to ride the pond in a 4x4 vehicle, but not on an ATV. It seems to me, that a good portion of the damage done to the trails, is by those who have no respect for the land and it's trails. I understand that it's hard to single out those who are doing the damage, but I seriously don't see why everyone has to be punished, and fined and whatever else comes to the officials on a whim. In this case, if there was obvious damage that can be 100% proven to come from Hannah, then do what needs to be done. As for the rest of us, if you see a machine that's NOT completely covered in mud....LEAVE US ALONE! Some of us DO respect our surroundings. Some of us DO just want to go for a relaxing ride in the woods. Is that such a bad thing? Go bother someone who is actually doing something wrong, and make up your minds what is and isn't allowed!
