There have been 3 newspaper articles in various papers that have reported on the 1808 Corp Sign lawsuit and various mistakes and ommisions of the facts have occurred amongst these articles.
Fact #1: The 1808 Corp aka Sandy and Ken Lehtonen brought the lawsuit against the Town of New Ipswich. The Town did not sue the Lehtonens.
Fact #2: The Superior Court has ordered the 1808 Corp to pay the Town's legal fees, court costs, and a substantial fine ($275/ day since Jan 2005) to the Town which has not been reported in any of the papers or mentioned by the Lehtonens.
Fact #3: The proposed articles are not to save the Taxpayer's money, since the Lehtonen's have been ordered by the court to pay those costs. They were proposed by the Lehtonen's to save themselves from paying up in the face of defeat in court.
Fact #4: Sandy Lehtonen has said this area is a business district and the sign was strictly business. By the zoning laws this area is a mixed residential and business area and therefore the resident's rights need to be considered and not just the business. There are site plan regulations to protect all property owners and everyone in Town proposing a business needs to adhere to these regulations.
