I know your post is almost a year old, but thought I'd reply in case you have not found the dried crowders yet.

I'm a transplanted Mississippian, starving for the food on which I was raised, and finally had a college friend mail me some dried crowders from Baton Rouge, LA. They arrived yesterday. He got them at FRESH PICKINS PRODUCE in Baton Rouge. The seeds for growing your own are available from WILLHITE SEED, INC. P.O. Box 23, Poolville, TX 76487.

Folks in California don't know how to eat for their soul. A little bacon grease now and then won't kill you. Out here, it's all about tofu and sushi and some ungodly concoction from Starbuck's.
