Mt. Clemens/ needs own police department

How safe is Mt. Clemens, really? What has been going on there the past 2-3 months? What hasn't been reported?

No way!! The Old Mount Clemens Police were terrible. Horrible. The Sheriff Dept is much better.

You're out of your mind dude. MCPD enforced law & order in that ghetto under extremely difficult circumstances, almost none of which made the paper. If any town in America needs it's own police department it's Mt Clemens. Not to mention all the good cops (and their families) that got screwed over.

I have lived in the clem for 25 years, in the beginning the cops were great felt very safe, 2 years before they were replaced the MC cops went on vacation and never returned. I remember talking to one that responded with a lackadaisical attitude to a neighborhood incident; he was laughing at the residents that had made the report, claiming we better get used to it because they refused to get involved in neighborhood crime or writing tickets. I remember passing MC cops parked on the sidewalk in front of the cowboy bar on a Friday night checking out the girls waiting in line, the same thing at the Emerald while 3 – 4 sheriffs’ cars had people pulled over in the city. The best thing the city council ever did was to fire them, they should have been prosecuted for not enforcing the laws they were sworn to uphold, not protecting the citizens because their egos were bruised. Everyone I have talked to since thinks the sheriffs are doing a much better job than the bums they replaced walk through town today on a crowded night and you will see a strong law enforcement presence not a bunch of uniforms hanging out at the entrances of bars hassling patrons trying to impress the skirts. The only families that got screwed over in that mess were the good law abiding residents of Mount Clemens that paid tax dollars to support one of the most ineffective police forces in America

The Mt Clemens police were very unprofessional when dealing with people. They were just plain mean as can be. They had total disrespect for anyone and every one. One thing about the Mt Clemens Police Dept and that is they treated every single person the same. (They hated everyone the same) I was so happy to see them fired and gone. The Sheriff Dept is much better.

..........Taxpayer said it best!!! The MtClemens Police Dept was and "IS" the worse of the terrible.

hummm..just remembering the ticket i got for an hanging air-freshner..oh and when they rode by while i was pumping gas..waited till I was done..pulled me over saying I had just robbed the gas station.
I dont think it was near the 'ghetto'..anyway, have fun MC..get dem long johns out..again
