Suspect wounded after chase by West Haven police

The incident began in West Haven when an officer spotted Joseph Palermo, 41, of East Haven, who had several outstanding warrants.

Suspect wounded after chase by West Haven police. I would say he was more than wounded. I think that the way this was handled by the West Haven police officer was discusting. The newspaper said the bullet is lodged in his back. Seems to be a few conflicting stories. Good Bad or Indifferent what kind of person shoots someone in the back? This is my opinion and that of many. Will this officer be accountable for his actions?

Yet again a West Haven cop shoots someone in the back. The name of the officer has yet to be named. This should be interesting. This Police department makes the show RENO 911 look serious. When becoming a police officer is that one of the requirements is to be able to shoot people in the back. Seems to be the case in West Haven?

And I have to agree this person was a lil more than wounded. The papers don't tell you all that. This was a shoot to kill incident. Mr Palermo lived and his story will be heard. And the truth will come out about the brutality.

I knew him for a long time. He is a drug addict and caused a ton of grief for everyone that has ever come in contact with him. He is a low life drug smoking and/or shooting waste of flesh. So, in saying this, Joey probably did something to get himself shot. You all should really get your facts straight before you just write blogs. I hope he gets nothing and deserves nothing. You knew him for a long time? Doesnt say much for you then does it if that is the way you feel about him? I have my facts straight. He is accountable and will serve his time. I hope he ends up owning West Haven. Next time a cop will think before they shoot an unarmed man. He did nothing to provoke the shooting. He reached for nothing that was proved. And its obvious if he had been he would have been shot in the chest area? So that blows all this bullshit you read out of the water. They were out to get Palermo. We believe they wished he died. Well guess what he didn't and his truth will be told. Everyone makes mistakes. Its nice to see so many sympathetic people. So what are you a COP? I also hope he gets what he deserves. Saying you new or hung around w/joe palermo puts you in a certain light.If you knew him that well you then new he has struggled to over come his drug addiction for many many years.And you would also know that he has paid for everything he has ever done with years and years behind bars.He has never denied anything he was guilty of.Unfortunately there are people like you who obviously was also a heavy drug user.was that the lifestyle you hoped for when you grew up .I hardly think so.Unfortunately this countries jails would not be filled if there was help available to those who wanted it. First of all your name speaks for itself. You said and I quote you. I have known him for a long time. Amazing. What grief did he cause you? That you are so full of hate. He did something to get himself shot. Hmmmmmmmm well they proved that he had no gun or anything on him. So the reaching for something is a bunch of crap. And as it had been stated a zillion time, so do try and keep up. He was shot in the back. THE BACK!!!!!!!! Had he been reaching for something the officer would have shot him in the front. What kind of person shoots someone in the back? Well I was raised only a coward does that. Obviously if someone is scared there are ways of taking them down. Do these cops not attend training.

The papers stated he was shot in the back. He was scared. He knew how these cops were and have been to him in the past. So he got scared.

Anyone ever been scared??? The officer shot him in the back. Joe was not even facing him. He had no weapon. And with no regard he shot him in the back.
