YDR Opinion: Police members share the blame

I couldn't agree more with this article. The members need to learn the art of working together and check their egos at the door. You have a police department...give the new Chief the opportunity to show you it can work....jumping ship won't solve a single thing...you will jump with all your same problems into someone else's boat. Fix your problems. New Freedom, Glen Rock, Railroad and Shrewsbury grow up and act like responsible adults for a change.

Notice that the two Boroughs that have complained the loudest have both had catastrophic events happen in their fiefdoms resulting in lots of investigative and court time: the Witman murder in New Freedom and the Blossom Valley Farms dump truck crash in Glen Rock.

SRPD should restructure with a rate cap so as not to penalize the citizens for the criminal actions or negligence of others. Once an investigation exceeds a set number of hours the cost should be spread proportionately among all participating entities.

This has already being done by the Southern Police Commission a number of years ago.
