Surprised Barker didn't end up in the hospital again with chest pains before he actually had to do some work on a real case...considering he only wrote 89 pages for something that could have been covered in 10 pages.

Good to know that Zack will continue to pay for the muder of his brother...he should stay in jail as long as Greg is dead. Thank you Mr. Barker for keeping our community safe.

So, for 80+ pages, the Prosecution has to go on and on about how fantastic the opposition was while the other side say their lawyer was more dense than Forrest Gump.

What a process .... and we pay for all that crap. No wonder the courts are so backed up.

Now we wait for a ruling .... which will predictable go against the Defense and then further appeals. Will this merry-go-round ever end???

This is just another last ditch effort for an appeal. Hell any criminal that is found guilty could use the argument that his defense lawyer was ineffective since they were found guilty.

The Witman's know this is their last chance for an appeal and will try ANYTHING to get their murderer son free. Keep the little psychopath locked up where he is.

Yes, here is your rebuttal:

The courts don't get rich because of appeals. However, they do guarantee that there will be no staff or judicial reduction in court personnel due to an increasing, never-ending backlog of cases and appeals.

The courts cost us -- the taxpayers -- money and we have no say in how it is spent (or wasted).

The appeal process is needed because of so many mistakes that are made by judges (whose only concern is getting reelected every decade). These are the people who choose to make less money than they could as a lawyers but don't have to worry about their jobs for 10 years at a time.

But you are right about the lawyers: it is the only profession that when you loose a case, you actually have an opportunity to make a lot more money as an attorney via the appeals process. Thank God for their egos or they would never win a case.

But you are right about this specific case: it is a "ridiculous" appeal that will go nowhere. Unfortunately, it will probably not be the last attempt.
