The so-called "homeless man" they speak of is, undoubtedly the one we locals call "Bicycle Man". I, personally, have seen him ranging from the south end of Shrewsbury to as far north as the turn-off from the Trail to the Loganville exit of I-83 and as late as 9:30 PM. Folks at Smith Brothers' Garage in Shrewsbury know him well, for he often stops there to buy snacks. Far from being penniless, he has a CELL PHONE! He's always complaining that he wishes he had a girlfriend but none want him because he has no job.(sob) A waitress at Red Lobster in York told he he lived at the Midway Hotel just uphill from where I spotted him in Loganville. Her kindly neighbors, an elderly couple, once offered him some cool water on a hot day but he declined, saying he'd rather have money. Another person told me an acquaintance, feeling sorry for him, had offered him $20 for one of his "paintings" but he said he couldn't let it go for less than $40! He has reportedly been sighted in Seven Valleys and even farther north so he may have left the motel.

It would make better sense to contract with York Area Regional as they already cover most of the Dallastown Area School District properties and Jacobus Borough.

A lot of the criminal mischief in Loganville will eventually lead to a visit to a school or two.

Hey tombessi, are you kidding me??? You want to pay for Southern regional PD to police the tiny boro of Loganville just so you call them for the guy on the bike who sometimes tries to sell pictures on the trail???? He is far from homeless tombessi, last year he was living at the Midway motel. This just sounds like another excuse for tombessi to be able to call the cops on Loganville residents who set the trash out too soon or their grass was not cut to his specifications. The last thing we need is additional taxes for tombessi's foolishness.

Do not laugh at this gentleman. No one would purchase Adolph Hitlers paintings either, and look how well he turned out! What in the hell does that mean; I don't know either. No more stupid than most other posts on these threads.

I believe PSP is accepting applications, you can try to get on again and if you do you can patrol 80% of the state and never worry about how much area you're department coveres. Now run along junior!

So taxpayers are going to have their taxes raised to contract with Southern? Right now they get all the services of state police free, and they are 45 seconds away. You are going to pay for a set number of patrol hours, and your police are now responding from New Freedom. Brilliant plan. Raise our taxes in this economy because some guy is selling paintings? What?

This is not about some guy selling paintings as our council prez says in the article, it's about tombessi having some PD at his command to to go after Loganville residents for any of his boro enforcement issues. But,if it really is about raising our taxes to just go after the guy on the bike that sells his artwork, then what a shame. Hey tombessi wake up!!We don't need to pay taxes for your private PD!!

How is this guy a nuisance to DRIVERS as the first line in this article states? To residents he panhandles from... yes, but drivers?? Why, because God Forbid they don't get to drive 60mph on the Trail and runner bikers off the road. Yep.. total nuisance. Obnoxious York Co. residents who have no respect for speed limits need to be the focus, not a single person who sells paintings on the side of the road without... gasp... a permit. Enforce the speed limits and you wouldn't need to raise taxes to hire a police dept to enforce local regs.

The Borough Code places the responsibility for supervising the Police (whether the Borough's own, or contracted) with the Mayor, not with the Council or Council officers.
