FIRST--I AM NOT SAYING WHAT THESE KIDS DID IS OKAY. It is a shame that our teens have no where to go to socialize. Years ago you could go to any town in the Mon Valley on a given night and find a safe place to loaf with your friends. We had dances every weekend, drive in food places where we were welcome and no one caused trouble. You met new friends and saw old friends. Growing up in the 50's was a great time. No one drank. Drugs weren't even known about. You didn't steal from your neighbors. Why didn't we remember this and provide for a place for our children and eventually grandchildren to "loaf" Did we all forget. Where have these places gone---

I'm a high school student, and I to tell you...but you're right. I, personally, have nowhere to go on the weekends. Occasionally a friend has a party, but there really is no social place for teenagers to gather in Mon City. I think what happened was that most of these places were corrupted by teens that started bringing . Most high school football games and such are dangerous in a way because of the kids that come inebriated and under the influence. It's ridiculous, you're right.

We always had a "cabin" in the woods in West Newton in the late '50's and early '60's where we learned how to smoke our parent's cigarettes. Usually the non-filter type like Camel, Lucky Strike or the dependable Pall Mall. Back in the late '60's we used to hang out at Milt's pool hall and Frank's Restaurant in West Newton. And in the summer, there was always fun times at Bill's, the DogHouse and Super 71 Drive-Inn. Or, you could always depend on a good drag race on Friday and Saturday nites between Murray's Lanes and the 136 cutoff. Yes those were the days without a care in the world. Any comments?
