1 Hey Genius - Without this state of the art sewage treatment plant we will end up with septic systems which will polute the environment to a much greater degree!! And just how do you propose establishing 1 acre lots when the existing development is already owned by numerous citizens who purchased property and are now unjustly unable to use it? Think before you "speak"! |

Good point and well stated!!!! Some people fail to understand the benefits of a state of the art sewage treatment plant compared to a back yard septic system in order to save our local waterways!!!! These same people are either against smart growth or just plain uneducated and out of touch with reality. |

I have owned property in Captains Cove for many years, and Im one of those people who cannot build a home there. I understand the points of those who would be opposed to the discharge of effulent into Swan's Gut. The utility company has taken great strains and expense to have the discharge from the plant to have a better water quailty than whats there now. Septic systems on this low lying area most likley will discharge nitrogen into the bay, how long will it take? Good question, with a low water table it may sooner than later. So Richard you tell us what is a reasonable and viable solution, because the septic systems of today are not much inproved today as they were some thirty years ago. Where as wastewater technology has improved by leaps and bounds. I also would like to point out this water treatment plant that is proposed exceeds the requirements required by EPA and both states bordering this community.

In 2004 I bought a lot in section 7 from a Caldwell Banker sales woman working on site. She told me this lot along with all the other lots in section 7 would be buildable by 2007 using the EXISTING treatment plant. All LIES!!!!!!
She has since packed up and left town after taking me and many others money by deceiving us. Now I am being told that the developer has filed for bankruptcy and that my lot is now worthless without this NEW treatment plant. The community center is at least a year behind schedule and the new golf course sucks. |

I am originally from Long Island New York where sewage treatment plant effluent is sent one mile offshore, no into the inland bays. Why is this not an option for Captians Cove?

My husband and I also purchased a lot in 2004 - not from CB but from a private owner. We were interested in a waterfront lot and ended up in section 1 on Seaview - what we thought was an outstanding location for the future. We thought we were being responsible in doing our homework regarding the sewer issue, and did our research and made several phone calls prior to buying the property to inquire about the sewer issue. We were told by the county and the Accomack Water Authority that the community of Captains Cove was approved "overall", and that if the lot didn't perq, then a hybrid hybrid system would be used if necessary. Well- several years, dreams and MANY MANY dollars$$ later WE HAVE NOTHING!!

Looking to buy there. I love the cove and enjoy the people I have met that live there year round and people that are weekend warriors. I would like to get more info on all these problems that the cove is having PLEASE HELP.

The residents of the Cove are great. The golf course is average. The developer has claimed bankrupsy. There is no gas, food, stores or entertainment close to the area. Most of all, BEWARE of the onsite sales persons that will flat out lie about water and sewer being available in order to make a quick sale. You may be stuck like me with a lot (50k)that is unbuildable while being forced to pay for unused utilities, taxes and community fees for the people who live there. Other than that, it is a pretty nice place. Prices are now low, but be careful. Best of luck to you. |

Are close to the bay to where you can't put a septic in? |
