A man was shot and killed Sunday night in New Castle, Lawrence County, police said.

telling the true? truth? new castle has been a haven for drug users and sellers for many, many years. it was also one of the easiest places to get away with murder at one time. probably still is ( i haven't lived there for some time now but i doubt it has changed much).

First off New Castle is like any other city it is what u make it...I lived there 18 years and seen drugs been around them it is what u make a place...New Castle isnt all about drugs and violence

Anyone remember a murderer in New Castle PA named Michael Atkinson? Or another guy, a friend of Atkinson, named Tanner? I think Tanner is in jail for rape and Atkinson is in jail for murder. Just wondered if anyone remembers anything about the crimes.

Yes I remember the Atkinson murder back in 1980. I was 10 years old. The family was my aunt and cousin. They blamed my uncle (husband and father to the deceased) which drove him out of New Castle.

That was I that posted the last comment under "Atkinson Murder". After reading my post, it may have come out wrong. They blamed my uncle which was wrong. I don't believe he did it. But that goes to show what New Castle is like. Why do you think the trial took place in Mahoning County in OHIO ! Hell, I would take a chance of venue myself cause of the corrupt judges in that town. And I noticed your post tee. I'm wondering if you're the same tee that is my cousin. I'm in the same boat as you, curious about certain things that I cant remember as a child.

New Castle is a dump and full of corrupt people, easily paid-off. No one in N.C. makes over 30K unless they are a criminal of sorts (or drive an hour to work). Do yourself a favor and stay clear of that town unless you enjoy living around crime/corruption. That whole PA/Ohio area is a dump. Draw a 200 mile radius, with Edinburg,PA at the center and stay the hell out of it. A mega-gambling and horse track is perfect for the shithole of New Castle. It will bring more corrupt people scamming everyone. Good for your New Castle, get more crime in that town.

fist in foremost new castle pa has its share of crime but so does tx after all some of the biggest names in murdering came from tx.do your homework and true there is alot of people in new castle pa that dont make a million dollars a year but where your at in austin tx only steers and queers come from and you dont sound like your fit up to be a cowboy either in tx you have to make big money to survive the cost of living is high and there are some people in new castle that good people so dont small mind where we live trash like you makes it bad for the good folks

I have most newspaper accounts of the trial and also accounts of the other crime I believe Atkinson committed. I'm happy to email them to you if you like.

i dont see why everyone puts down new castle. i have lived there 10 years, and its only bad if you associate yourself with bad people. every city has drugs, guns, crimes... if you think new castle is bad with drugs, why dont you go put down neshannock, union, shenago.. they have more drug users... get yourfacts straight

Are you serious? I am a lifelong New Castle resident. I attended New Castle High School, a four year college (on a scholarship I might add), and EARNED a degree. In fact, I make over 30K a year and I am certainly not a criminal of sorts!! People like you are the reason New Castle gets a bad reputation. I'm so sorry if you couldn't make it here, but don't degrade the many residents that can and have! If you choose to make generalizations without background knowledge than that is your right, but you are making yourself look like an uneducated troublemaker!

Did you ever find what you needed? My mother and father lived relatively close to the Kadunce home and my mother seems to remember a lot of details and also much of the trial. I too, was a young child at the time. I was looking up murders in New Castle when I cam across this site. I am interested in any details anyone would like to post.
