THE NEW CASTLE TOPIX PAINTS A DIFFERNT PICTURE OF NEW CASTLE THAN THE WORLD WIDE WEB DOES. PULL UP NEW CASTLE PA ON THE INTER NET & READ WHAT IS BEING SAID. SOMETHING IS WRONG SOMEWHERE. THE WWW DOESN'T MENTION DRUGS, HOMICIDES, & CORRUPTION, & GANGS.

New Castle is a drug and Gang infested city. I moved away and really saw a differt side of life, from citizens to police to activities. You cann't go to a church fair without a high threat of robery or fights. I am a US Soldier and felt safer in some parts of Iraq then New Castle. I have been shot at twice in New Castle and eveybody in New Castle has been robbed or know somebody who has.

New Castle is the worst town I have ever lived in. Everbody knows somebody who has been robbed, shot or effected by the high volume of drugs in that city. You have people who drive from all surronding towns to get thier dope from New Castle. When the only jobs are Min. Wage jobs you will have a high rate of crime and Drugs. A corrupt police dept. doesn't help either.

My brother is a State Trooper in Lawrence County and yes, the police force is corrupt but there are still a few people that aren't corrupt. They just cannot get their job done when the rest of the police force are on the criminals' sides.

Most of the comments that I have been reading are true. When my parents were young, New Castle was a Mafia run town. People of color if there was one place to go, it either accidently caught on fire, or every one went ther, rubbed shoulders with enemies, got into fights, and closed that one place down. Wake up New Castle!

I was born and raised in New Castle, but left almost twenty yeas ago when I joined the U.S. Navy. I am now a high school teacher in a rural town in Missouri, and must admit the times I have missed good old New Castle are fewer and fewer as the years go on. All I hear from friends and family who have moved out of town is to stay away because it has become awful. In some ways I enjoy hearing it has gone to the pot, because I was raised by a single mother and was treated like trash the majority of my life by most people, because we werenít some bodies in town, but I have grown up and remember allot of good about New Castle and the people. Are the Post Office Lunch and Dog House still open? I would love to have a plate of chili dogs right now. What about the trout fishing in the Neshannock creek?, is it still stocked every march? I still trout fish to this day, and remember all the cold spills I took in the creek on opening mornings. I remember running from my house through town up highland and down Jefferson and back, getting ready for cross country season. Hopefully things will get better. Sam

It has been such a busy school year so far I haven't been able to make it out tothe streams as of yet. I will hit hem hard though this easter weekend and will hopefully cathc a couple nice ones. I got out of the Navy after 4 years, and joined hte Army National Guard spend 16 months in Iraq during OIF1, came on discharged from the Army guard and joined the Air National Guard. It has been a crazy military career so far, but well worth it. Hang in and enjoy the deployment the best you can. I did two cruises when I was in.

Yes New Castle is terrible!! My husband is a Federal Law Officer, and yes that town's Law enforcement is courrupt, and so is their social services esepcially in reference to their so call Childs Protective Service Department, I know first hand women who lost thier children whos only crime had been poverty if they want your baby for someone that is looking to adopt the'll get it!! Did you know when you report someone for child abuse in that county they call the person be accused and make an appointment to come out and check on the alligations!!! WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT...OUTRAGOUS!!! And what about the serial killer that has murder and mutliated several area prostitutes that were found on the south side, that you never hear anything about. I would love to see 20/20 or 60 minutes do an investigation on both. I lived in New Castle for 5 years and couldn't wait to leave. I left in 87 and never looked back I go back only because I have family there and in the 27 years since I've been gone nothing has changed and its getting worst by the minute!! The only thing in New Castle is OLD money or No money and no opportunity.

Responding to Brenda's previous reply...As a former Social Worker Investigator for Child Protective services not employeed in the State of Pa.

The State that I was employeed as a social worker for Child Protective Services. Depending on the age of the child & level it is how we would respond, but we would never call a parent/caregiver foster home/ treatment center, or school & give them advance notice. I'm not sure about how PA system is set up, but it's clear that changes should be made in the system. I will agree that I have heard of children being removed based on the social economics of the parent/caregiver. Instead of the worker tyring to provide outreach services for that parent & the child ends up in a worst system.

I have considered returning and start an organization that would be an umbrell, but my major concern is that I could not get anyone who was dedicated.

These forums are good so, I can see what is actually going on. I have traveled many places, but find that New Castle for a population that is so so small has many problems that a large urban area would have. It's ironic because I have lived in a country and the province that I live in has an estimate of 123 million people just in the province. I have never had anyone on the streets offer me drugs. However, in New Castle it has happened to me:-(

I hate to hear that. The Dog House was owned by the Mantanaious family "I know I spelled their name wrong" it was located across from the fruit and vegetable market at the bottom of Neel st after it drops off of Taylor. It's been twenty years so I donít remember the plant that was across the street. I do remember it was where all the local truckers used to stop for lunch. Like I said before I hate to hear New Castle has become such a dump. I do remember the corruption in the city police when I was in High School. I new one officer who used to run road races allot with a few of us and he was always sleeping with High school girls. Heck he would be in his sixties or older today. When I was in 5th grade us local neighborhood boys where playing football and we played rough back then, one of the whiney boys got his nose broken by one of the boys whose father just got out of prison. The father of the boy who got his nose broke blamed me because he dared not say anything to Brian's dad about it. This man picked me up and threw me into a phone poll, when my mother called the police they said there wasn't anything they could do about it, and being poor we couldn't argue about it, so it was dropped. Later we found out the police officer who arrived was this man's brother in law. Small town B.S.

Gangs & drug infested? Hardly. Notice that everyone saying that does not live here. How 'bout that? Getting bad info second & third hand. It's nothing like being described here. Not that much better or worse than a lot of places. I've lived here all of my life.

I don't live there and I'm glad that I don't. I grew up there. That's all I need to know. What's the matter honey, did someone strike a chord with you? Are you an NC Crackhead?

Then open your eyes. I lived there and it's true. Drugs are rampant, corruption from police to prison to unions, no jobs, etc.
