If she wanted to find you she would look for you. Maybe she doesn't know she is adopted. Or maybe she is mad because her family turned on her and gave her away.

Is there really any need to be that mean and rude to a complete stranger?

What about the feelings of of the young person that may or may not know they were adopted. I'm sure they like their name plastered on topix.

I agree with blunt. It's totally unfair to your niece and very selfish of you. It was a closed adoption not an open one, obviously ok with the birth mother. Who are you to disrupt someone's life just so your head is satisfied. If this girl wants to find her birth family, she will. I don't believe at any point regardless of the age, that biological families have any right to contact in a closed adoption. Open adoptions are different

How is it unfair? She is 18.. if she was adopted at the age of 2 or 3 maybe she doesn't know, so she doesn't know her birthname. Nothing unfair about it at all in my opinion. I wish you the best in finding your loved one!

She has a new life and a new family.....she's no longer yours to claim! If her adopted parents want her to know about her previous family, let THEM be the ones to let her know!

It is unfair for the reason you stated yourself. What if she doesn't know she's adopted and this lady is putting her on blast on an internet message board of all things. And this young girl stumbles on the fact that she's adopted online? If that isn't 100% totally unfair i don't know what is. Her birth mother had the option to keep her children or to have an open adoption where she could keep contact. Since she choose not to do so, it's not her right to decide to contact. It's even less of their aunt's right. Maybe if you were actually adopted, you would feel differently. I was adopted and knew it. When I was 20 my bio mother attempted to contact me and I had no interest in meeting her. I already had a mother, my adoptive mother. I have no interest in knowing what my biological parent's faces look like. They had their reasons for giving me up and I have my reasons for not wanting to meet them.

But isn't that your opinion.. shouldn't she have the option if she DOES know. As Layla stated, if she doesn't know she's adopted then she doesn't even know of a "birthname" and noting for her to stumble across anyway. I say, Go for it! If by putting this out there someone receives more love.. I'm all for it!

The girl will end up in hell anyway, so what difference does it make?

I agree with you. If she doesn't know what her birthname was then there shouldn't be any harm. I am all for happy endings.
