. Ok I called my dad and he told me this. My dad said he was his barber. A real good barber. His name was warren Byrd. He said this case happen in about 1958( I don't know if that date matches up with your memory) he said somewhere along there. So Byrd had a wife that wasn't acting right and eventually was committed to the mental hospital in Richmond. She would come home on visits periodically. After one visit she went back to the hospital and died she had been sick and that was it. A short while later he married a lady with the last name cable. She started getting sick and they thought it was the flu. Well then in a short time she died. Dr. Davies ( not sure how to spell it) was suspicious and ordered a bone marrow sample to examine. That's when they detected the arsenic. What broke the case wide open was that she was feeling sick and went to stay with her parents for a few days. That's when Mr. Byrd brought his wife a milkshake. She only drank a portion of it and put the rest in the refrigerator. Then some short time later she is rushed to the hospital where she dies. When the arsenic was detected the parents remembered the milkshake. They immediately retrieved it and it had an extremely high amount of arsenic in it. They then searched Mr. Byrds house and found rat poison that contained the arsenic. Warren Byrd was arrested. They then started looking into the death of his first wife. They exhumed the body and arsenic was also discovered. He was tried and convicted of both murders. My dad said they lived on north 20th st. The short section just off broad st.

My dad said that he always projected himself as a devout Christian. One day while my dad was in his shop mr Byrd was telling another customer that Elvis Presley was a disgrace and can't believe that he came from a good Pentecostal home. My dad was 18-20 years old at the time and my dad was into Elvis and jerry lee Lewis as well as others. I just thought this was a funny story because my parents didn't like my music and I certainly can't stand my kids music. The times change but the story stays the same

I would like to know what happen to Warren Byrd? Did he die in prison? Is he dead now( I'm sure he would have to be)? Did he ever get out of prison?

From what I understood from it, he did not get a new trial. I'm trying to find out some more info about it though.

no the court papers was talking about an Ohio case. Byrds defense cited that case as a precident. The 57 Chevy wAs talking about the Ohio case. So u r probably right about his green car

I couldn't understand exactly what it was saying. I only seen two judges opinions. I thought at least three had to be on there. So I wasn't for sure what happen. Please update any info. I'm kinda curious now.

I also found a census from 1940 showing that he was 15. So if he were alive today, he would be 87. I can't find any other document showing anything that happened with the case. I found some newspaper articles, but the wording is so tiny you can't read it.

I found his first appeal from 1962. It gives more details and facts about the case. I don't know how to post the link. Could you try and post it. I went to google and typed in. Warren Byrd vs Indiana. Several thing came up and about four or five down was the one from 62. I also seen the one u posted earlier. Thanks

I spoke with my grandma yesterday about this. She said that he did serve a prison sentence, but she wasn't sure how long. She did say that when he died in the late 1990's, that he was not in prison.

He had a Chrysler product car at the time of the arrest. I worked for a company that had it financed, and when they were looking for the poison they literally took the car apart, looking for a hiding place, but found the poison in the house later. Our company took the auto back and re sold it as a repossession. He lost custody of both of his children, and they changed their last name, and I heard he died out of prison a few years ago.

They wrote about this on Facebook. They said he got out of prison, and he remarried. She was not hurt.

Lois Cable was a dear friend of my mother. Warren married her and w supposed to deceive people regarding his Christianiy in order to cover up a prostitution ring he was reported to lead.

Warren only received 15 years for murdering those women. Lois would be 87 years old. Her life was taken when she was about 35. Upon leaving prison, Warren was reported to have moved to California where he most likely went back to his profession as a barber.
