Henry judge seeks state appointment

The Star Press

NEW CASTLE—Henry Circuit Court Judge Mary Willis is one of 34 applicants to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Indiana Supreme Court.

The state's Judicial Nominating Commission, charged with recommending three finalists for the position, will conduct initial interviews next week.

Gov. Mitch Daniels will select the successor for Justice Theodore Boehm, who is retiring Sept. 30. The state's high court has five justices, and the most recent appointment was in 1999.

Willis, of New Castle, was elected Circuit Court judge in 2002 and won a second six-year term in 2008.
