My first thought when I read this was " Time to gtfo of Dodge!"

I have written letters to my congressman regarding this. I am sure it will do no good. It seems Pence is hell bent on destroying Indiana and making sure we are all felons. Then we lose our right to vote and to possess firearms. All because of a plant that other states are legalizing.

No it's not idiot! A big part of how this country was made comes from law breakers or to some Outlaws! Get a clue, what once made America so great was the power to change laws, and hopefully we will do it again! If you wanna live under Government control you should really get a one way ticket to North Korea or better yet Iran and stfu

Key words: Change laws. Don't like Indiana's laws, change them through legislation. Stop whinning because no one is catering to you. It may come to the place where law abiding people will inhabit part of the U S, and criminals, and bums the rest. There is a reason why pot is illegal. There are reasons why we don't want to let illegal aliens over run the country. There are reasons why we have to look at the student visa applications to deter those with terror associations.Liberals have allowed the enemies of America to become so prolific we have lost track of the terrorists. The President cannot bring himself to say the words "Islamic terrorists"

Are you aware of the fact that 30% of Americans are arrested by the age of 23? That is hardly a "small minority". I would almost bet that the majority of these arrests are for small amounts of marijuana. I hate to think that my children could be arrested at 18 for possession of marijuana and subsequently acquire a felony that will follow them for the rest of their life.

These stiff penalties for marijuana are not beneficial to society. They are put in place to fill our prisons and to pad the PRIVATIZED prisons' pockets. While they are cashing checks for housing inmates, we are ruining our citizens' lives and our society at the same time. It creates a workforce that is limited to low paying jobs because of their felonious record. They cannot receive financial aid so a college degree is out of the question. Best of all, they can no longer vote, so they cannot try to change the laws that doomed them in the first place.

I respect everyone's right to an opinion. Laws, however, should not be based on opinions. Laws should be based on facts. The fact is marijuana is a plant that grows in the ground. It cannot kill you. It has many beneficial uses. Remove the current illegality factor and certain people's opinions on "dopeheads", and it becomes very difficult to present a legitimate argument that is against marijuana. It becomes even more difficult to present a legitimate argument as to why Pence is justified in creating stiffer penalties for minor marijuana possession.

Felons CAN vote in Indiana, don't buy into the lies, get off your azz and vote. This is nothing more than a disguise to strip gun rights and the NRA is to blind to see it.

I stand corrected. I looked it up, and you are right. Felons can vote in Indiana. Thanks for the info.

I also think you are right about the gun rights issue. More people with felonies = less people legally able to have guns.

Marijuana is legal in North Korea. Here is the link for that info...http://en.wikipedia.org /wiki/Legality_of_cannabis_by_ country

It should at least be legal for medicinal use here in Indiana. Government research that was funded by our Federal government and done by Dr. Carter in 1999 to 2001 showed that it had the ability to slow the progression of degenerative nerve disease and prevent cell death this would be great for those with Alzheimers, Parkinsons,Multiple sclerosis, ALS and other degenerative nerve diseases that effect the nervous system. Our federal government was given this info and immediately filed for and was given a patent for Cannabinoids...So they do know it has medicinal value. Here is the patent # just google it and you will see...http://uspatent6630507.c om/......Don't know why ANY government would want to keep this from people that have a disease there is no cure for.

Don't know if anyone has followed any reports by Dr. Sanja Gupta. He is a top neurologist in the U.S and was once asked to be the U.S Surgeon General but declined. He has done much research regarding the medicinal use of marijuana and was astounded by what he discovered or (uncovered). Here is an article in which he tells how the Federal government lied and misled the U.S. citizens about marijuana. He also apologizes for being part of lies. His research tells a much different story regarding the medicinal use of marijuana. Here is the link for the article. Please read. http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/08/health/gupta-ch...

Our government has allowed 1000's of patients that have and are suffering from one of these neurological diseases and all along they have had the research and information that has proved all their reasoning for it to be schedule 1 wrong, Dr. Gupta set the record straight. The medical profession all across the nation has found the remarkable success of what Marijuana can do as a medicine and the states 1 by 1 are now making it available to patients in need. The decision to make marijuana medicinally available to patients in need should be made by the medical profession, not the politicians that make laws and have no Medical background or medical knowledge and are influenced by the bureaucrats of big pharma, private prisons, and so forth. I've done a tremendous amount of research regarding this issue. Why? Because I am one of the individuals that suffer from one of those degenerative neuro muscular diseases. Dr's have told me there is no cure. When there is no cure patients should be allowed to try anything that provides hope. And, while it is medicinally legal in many other states...No one should have to leave their home, their family and friends to obtain a medication that has the capabilities that have been shown by the chemical compounds that exist in Marijuana.

Must be all that extra flowing over the border from MI, IL, and OH. Cant do anything about the states around you but you can try to increase the penalties there.

Its not going to work, but you can try...
