do you think it should be legal for a police officer to pull you over and give you a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt?? i mean lets be honest here; its not done for our safety. if they really cared about our safety they wouldnt allow people to fill the parking lots at the bars around town with the vehicles they intend to drive home after they spend a few hours pounding drinks looking for a potential mate inside. i mean honestly, whats the percentage of truely, legitimately sober drivers driving home their friends at the the end of the night?? its not very high, and its not a secret. and so many people have to die each year in accidents to keep on track with population control (which is a real concern that is just not spoken about publicly) so why cant they just leave us the hell alone if we choose to not wear our friggin seatbelt?? to truely live in a free society is to have the freedom to make the choice. youre only hurting yourself.

I agree to a point. I always wear my seatbelt and I make my kids wear theirs. However, i don't do it because it's "the law" I do it because its safe. thats my choice. If I decide to not wear one and die in a fiery crash, thats my choice too. Personal choices people. However I d think the police should be able to pull over one of the tons of cars i see on the roads where there are young, unbuckled kids in the car bouncing around. Kids are too young to make that choice themselves. Once they are adults and are well aware of the consequences, then they can decide for themselves.

Yeah that's exactly what I meant. And thank you for adding the bit about the kids. I forgot to mention that. I think that children should not have the option either, but once u turn 18, then it should be your choice to make. Just the same way cigarettes are, we all would agree that they aren't good for anyone, but once you become an adult, its up to you. First of all, you really don't need a seatbelt to save your life unless you're traveling at an unsafe speed anyway. Or maybe if you get on the interstate and you're going 70, then it might be a wise choice to throw it on but you shouldn't be forced to and penalized if you decide not to. I only am so firm on this because I've been in 10 car accidents in my lifetime. Now I know what you're thinking, so first let me say that of those 10 wrecks, I was only behind the wheel in 6 of them, and of those 6 only 1 was my fault and that was when I was just goofing off in my first car n slid into a parked car in my neighborhood. I am a careful driver overall though. And who hasn't had a little fun when they first turned 16? But the point is, in 3 of those 10 accidents we were also traveling at speeds of between 60-70 mph and came out relatively unscathed in all of them. Went off the road in my cousins truck in a snowstorm after he blew a tire going 60 and hit a tree. No seatbelt for either me, my cousin, or my brother, all of us were fine. Swerved to miss a deer that ran out in front of me while I was traveling about 60 on a highway and got into some loose gravel and smashed into the guardrail. No seatbelt, was fine. Was in the car alone. And then there was one that was a little bad. I was driving down a highway about 70 with my ex when a car pulled out in front of us and I broadsided them. The airbags kept us in the car and my face did hit the windshield hard enough to crack it in several places. We both went to the hospital in the ambulance but we mainly had scraped up knees and were just overall banged up but they were all injuries that I probably would've had regardless of a seatbelt or not. Maybe I'm just afraid that if I do put my seatbelt on, I'll get into a freak accident where it will actually be my seatbelt that killed me. Like I was trapped inside a car that was on fire or something. I just don't see why we should be stopped by the law and penalized for a choice that freely be yours to make. If seatbelts were necessary then I definately think I should've already been killed. Like I said, maybe on the highway when you're gonna be doing 70+ mph, maybe then you should out it on. But if you're just traveling around on normal roads at normal speeds I don't think its right and I don't think its necessary. I've been in several of those wrecks and you don't need a seatbelt to save your life in them. Especially if you are driving alone and you can hold onto the steering wheel and there are no passengers to worry about.

if seatbelts were put in cars for our safety then why did it take them 30 years to make it illegal not to wear one?? the larger picture escapes u.. the only reason it is illegal not to wear one is to give the police yet another reason to pull u over and make u pay some more of ur hard-earned money to the state.. the spending in the country is out of control.. every state is broke, our country as a whole is as broke as its ever been, and its all because the powers that be, the ones that have control over the budgeting and funding are blowing billions of dollars every day.. they dont care, its not theirs, and theyve become accustomed to it, and theyre not about to stop it, so they need to make more money somehow.. thats also the sole reason for the "war on drugs." thats why every year the funding for it goes up and the penalties get harsher and harsher and thats also why prisons are, for the most part, privately owned now.. its become a slave trade. they are only interested in taking our hard-earned money from us and spending it.. wake up people.. its also illegal to drive and talk on ur cell phone now too, u kno how many police officers i see ridin down the road doin that?? they take it too far now days, u cant do anything without them hunting u down.. dumbass??? that wasnt very nice, i got one for u too tho.. naive... oh and oblivious.. u dont kno anything about the world u live in.. ur probably the type of person that watches the news on tv and believes that the information u are getting isnt biased to the agendas of the people who own that particular station.. ur being lied to, and ur following along like a sheep...

Just another way to raise revenue! If the politicians cared so much, there would be seat belts on school buses!
It's our car and it should be our choice! Another example of American Communism!
