I hope you can still make these comments when someone like this does something to someone that you love. Judging from your the "charming personality" you have shown in your words above, I am sure someone out there feels that all of your relatives deserve to die.

Neither my mom nor my dad ever showed me how to NOT light cats on fire, yet I managed not to. Unless we're to believe that the parent is a feline-pyromaniac, he didn't learn this from his parents - therefore, they're not to blame. I blame curiosity.
The kid was curious about what happens if you pour an accelerant on a cat and then apply flame - CURIOSITY killed the cat! There you have it. He should have learned that adage in school, and if he didn't then our education system has failed him. Once again it's society's fault.
Let's stop blaming the parents. It's hard to raise boys. That's why I chose to have daughters.
u made some very good points about not being taught to light animals on fire, this 9 year old has an issue if not many. His parents need help to learn to be more in control and an occasional beating to his ass wont hurt in reminding him who is the parent and who is the child when necessary

i love animals and the thought of this poor cat and any other animal that is abused, is heartbreaking.
this boy needs help, and by that I mean he needs to face the consequences of what he did, along with serious counseling.

While I dont agree with everything the Inventor has to say I do believe we need to lead by example and without getting too ``guruish'
Mahatma Ghandi had a great quote

``WE must be the change we wish to see in the world''

Just think about it, it makes sense. By no means, do I think that what this boy did was ok or excusable. I feel he is in desperate need of help.

Made mistakes when I was 9? Sure, with wild abandon and I learned from them. Did I ever set an animal ON FIRE? No, and I can't think of one reason that would seem like a good thing to do. Everybody makes "mistakes" certainly, but not everybody goes around killing animals. A mistake is something that is correctable, or you can learn from it. What do you think can be learned from killing an animal?

the liberals love to protect the criminals... after all, they have so much in common.

liberals would rather see criminals go free than see society be safe for people who have JOBS and RESPONSIBILITIES.

you knwo what would happen if every american became a liberal with their hand out for a freebie? there wouldnt be anyone working to supply the tax dollars to feed them.
