In 1948 and 49, New Carlisle Cooperative Club sponsored Air Scouting Squadron #5 for a dozen or more New Carlisle teenagers. It was one of several such BSA units throughout the Tecumseh Council in the 1940s and 50s.
Next spring, May 2010, the Council will support the nationwide centennial celebration of Scouting in America. Part of their BSA Showando to be held at the Clark Co Fairground will feature Air Scouting as an example of Scouting in the past.
In this connection, we are seeking any of the New Carlisle men who were Air Scouts or their leaders during the last two years of the 1940s. In particular, we're looking for memories and memorabilia (for loan only).
