On the news tonight they showed members of either the Congress or Senate standing and applauding the police for handling the apparently crazy woman that had attempted to crash the gates at the White House. They also showed heavily armed police with automatic weapons at the scene. I will not second guess their actions as I wasn't there, but to applaud them is obscene. The woman has been described as having mental problems as well as not being armed. It seems that lately the police have been very trigger happy. What she did was wrong and she should have been arrested, but to kill her was just wrong. By the way reports said there was a child in the car. One other thing, when I was in the Police Academy we were told the only time we should shoot at a moving vehicle is when an occupant of that vehicle was firing at us.

I am very PRO law enforcement, but I cannot stand behind this at all. There were so many things that could have been done differently, resulting in her continuing to live.
I am very angry at our government, and congress right now, so possibly prejudice on my next comment, but here goes:
THAT was not acceptable criteria for protection of the rest of the US, nor was it acceptable practice by the entire rest of US law enforcement to apprehend someone under any circumstance.
They already had the advantage on her, by being so heavily saturated with officers in that area. Plenty of vehicles, and barricades to box her in with.
I have viewed the footage that has been released, and that we have all seen, and her erratic driving at THAT point was after they had shot her, and already mortally wounded her, correct??
I can certainly understand her driving, obvious fear, and behavior at that stage.
The one police cruiser that they keep showing all smashed up, has been found to be attributed to him driving himself into a barricade, correct?
That lady did not deserve to be shot, in my opinion.
May she rest in peace, and love.

What you saw was an over-reacting police force that were on high alert because they were running a drill that day.

First responders perfect their skills in nation's
capital
WASHINGTON (Oct. 1, 2013)-- First responders in the National
Capital Region need to keep their skills at a high level of proficiency.
Participating in Capital Shield 14 is one of the methods they used to
maintain their expertise.
More than 38 participating agencies from DOD and capital region
response agencies performed mock mass casualty rescues, defense
support to civil agency technical rescues and law enforcement tactical
responses. The goal of the exercise is to ensure government agencies
at every level are prepared to coordinate action to protect the public
in the event of an actual disaster in the National Capital Region.

Lately ALL of society has been trigger happy, that's the problem.

As far as the child in the car that was the best reason to shoot her because she wasn't stopping and continued to endanger the like of the child.

No she didn't have a weapon as in a gun but she was using her car as a weapon.

You don't make any sense the police shot her in the car with her baby in the back seat to save her baby?

That doesn't make any sense.

Why are these police armed? I thought that this administration doesn't believe in arming people?

You are the one not making sense.

The woman was doing 80 mph in a 30 zone, had already injured two officers, was a threat to anyone in the area, had slammed her vehicle into other one plus a gate and each impact was a threat to the child's life.

Her weapon was her car and she needed to be stopped.

They had already tried to stop her in other ways and the danger continued until they stopped her.

Do you know how dangerous it is shooting into a vehicle?
80 mph isn't fast I see idiot cops doing it all of the time.

Today the Senate Sergeant At Arms and Doorkeeper is handing out
“Thank You Capitol Police” buttons outside of the Dirksen Senate
Office Building, a day after the D.C. Capitol Police executed an
unarmed mother in front of her child.
