Region looks to get back to businessAfter Nemo: Isolation and togetherness amid slow cleanup

Feb 11, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Fairfield Citizen-News

After the most prolific blizzard in more than a century, Bridgeport and southwestern Connecticut will try to get back to business Monday, but not necessarily back to school.

3 days and not one snowplow or bucket loader to the south end of bridgeport... it's hard to be that incompetent but inner city democrats can manage it!

If only Romney had won. This would have never happened if he was President.

Same thing in Stratford and no one's talking - although I heard rumor to the effect that there wasn't enough in the town pumps, and I also heard that 6 out of 12 plows broke down while they were plowing. Barnum Ave is plowed, parts of Broadbridge and Main are, as well as Nichols Ave, but not ONE side street has seen a plow since Friday afternoon. Parts of some streets are cleared, thanks to tireless citizens with shovels and their own snowthrowers, but other than that, nothing. Even though the National Guard was seen at Main and Barnum. Or so I heard.

Nice try, but it's you who look ridiculous trying to deflect rather than acknowledging the total incompetence of Finch and company. The total lack of response has a distinctly democrat flavor to it, and everyone knows it. And only democrats would 'address' the situation by setting up roadblocks, like in New Haven. Sick.

Yes, much of the south end of Bpt was dealt with by citizens. The University of Bridgeport dug itself out very quickly. But they should have sent one bucketloader all the way down Park Ave, for emergencies, etc. Nothing.

By the way my original post talked about Finch/democrats in Bridgeport. False argument again, since I surely didn't say finch is the first selectman of your town.

Wow, lesson learned on topping off the tanks at the city pumps. Thats bad.
The snow is melting very fast now, which is nice. I actually heard a redwing blackbird as I was shoveling!

Yes, how incredibly stupid to restrict traffic into the area so they can clean the roads. They should have encouraged everyone to come on down with shovels.

I'm not trying to argue, you are. You blame the Bridgeport democrat administration for not getting the roads plowed. I merely showed you that the democrat administration in Fairfield had no problem clearing roads. So maybe it's not the persons political affliation but the person.

I'm merely correcting you- and Fairfield has nothing like the Bridgeport democratic machine, patronage, corruption, complete alienation of the electorate, fraudulent absentee voting, or democrat domination. So it's not surprising that they could manage. And when I lived in Fairfield, I voted for Flatto, as Metsopoluos (sp) was a spend-a-holic idiot.
