i'm so happy that gibbs is closing, becuase that school is nothing but a scam. going to Gibbs its a waste of time. Gibbs is nothing but a Career school for rejects and those who have a GED. Gibbs dose nothing to prepare you for college other than to siphon money away from you.

i should have stuck to the State community colleges where at least i would have gotten a better education.

they have charged me $35.000 with a student loan. no i don't have any money i don't have a job i could never pay that back. can't get a job becuase no one carse about a degree from gibbs college no one even looks at it. they think its a joke. i will sue gibbs college,

I went to this school and found many of the students didnt care. Your education is what you can take out of a lesson. I wasnt one for traditional school but through Gibbs, I found a way and actually learned, while my classmates were stuck wallowing in their own depressed mental, financial, etc states. I now have a great career and with that career I earned Tuition Reimbursement and achieved my BS in Marketing.
It is too bad the school didnt try to revive their old image of tough standards. They accepted too much garbage and now they are nothing. It is a shame.

While I studied at Gibbs, a few of my teachers just up-and-left IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS! Not to mention, the PRESIDENT at the time, QUIT! This school has had problems for a while and they wanted to get "rid" of them by having someone else buy out the school. Believe it or not, I actually managed to learn something when I attended, graduated with a 3.9 GPA, and am still holding down a great job.

Just by looking at your grammer and spelling,It's not hard to figure out that you had little education to begin with! Do you think just by enrolling in a school it is going to get you an instant easy road to success? You need to listen and learn and leave your negativities elsewhere or you're never going to make it!! Blame the educator for your ignorance!!

Artsy, Me too! I bet we were there at the same time! I would like to thank Karen Gherlone, she was the best teacher. I hope the students that feel 'left out' will realize that effort equals reward.

I attend Gibbs right now and am in my last term. I admit that the admission in Gibbs hasn't been strong since I've been there (1yr 3mnths), I'm sad to learn that the college will end. I recognized a long time ago that they needed to change the curriculum in order to attract more students. I'm in Visual Communications and the graphic design teachers have tought me how to use the programs, as well as giving me their own examples about working for design companies. I believe that Gibbs is a great technical school, but they have built a bad reputation for themselves. Before the Associates degree wasn't credited for colleges or universities, now they've added classes so that they are. I guess a little too late!

To all existing students @ Gibbs, my advice is to be like me and not to fail any classes, you might not get another chance to pass it-stay focused! stay positive that your degree will attain you a better job! F**k the haters and stay strong...

I go to Gibbs College right now in RI and I am thinking about leaving, but not because of the teaching. I feel the teachers there are much better then those at a Community College and considering I went to one, I feel I can say that. Those who feel "losers" go there are sadly mistaken. I know many people who are there with me that bust themselves everyday to do well. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and have had one since I have been attending classes there. I feel some of the posts on here are just because people are ignorant. You should watch what you write down on here, any of it could be used as libel if it ever needed to come down to that.

Hey guys, I went to the Gibbs in Boston for their Animation program in 2003-2005. They tried to push me into their graphic design program but I fought them tooth and nail to get them back on track because all I wanted was Animation. Well they stuck me into 2 animation classes too late in my time there to actually have it be useful. Then they stuck me in a portfolio class. The teacher, the same teacher we had for like everything else [it seemed like they only had the same 5 teachers for everything.] asked me what I was doing in class. I said working on my DEMO REEL as required as someone going into the animation field. He tells me "You need to do your graphic design portfolio!" I'm like "I'm NOT graphic design!" And we ended up arguing until I went to the department chair who did see it my way... for like a day or two. Then the portfolio class teacher told me I can do my demo reel... IN ADDITION to my graphic design portfolio. Which has done me no good at all what so ever. I don't even know quark. And the final kicker... My degree says GRAPHIC DESIGN on it. I skipped going to graduation because I am so mad at their company. Between this and a school owned by Education Management Corporation. I fell for both big time and now I'm 48k+ in debt due to defaulted loans because I can't afford to pay 500 a month. Why? Because I can't even find a job with their shitty skills. And I worked god damn hard!

I reported to my state's attorney general office about Gibbs in Boston. Their recruiters and advertisements lied about career placement [the clerk at the AG office who handled my claim even saw these ads himself on his way to work]. Now Gibbs is closing down. I refuse to pay for these bogus loans. It's like gibbs is closing their doors and running off with our money. They shouldn't be allowed to do so.

Also note, guys, I did some research and in 2003 students at the New York and Melville? Gibbs schools SUED the school and Career Education Corp and WON in class action. I would love to build one against CEC/Gibbs/Gibbs Boston, but nobody knows what step to take first. I've talked to a few lawyers but I don't know. Some people from Gibbs I talk to have that defeatist "I quit going there because it sucked. I went on for more schooling after Gibbs" attitude. Like they'll accept paying these scam artists.

Ugh It's ridiculous. They're closing their doors and running away with our money, leaving the rest of us in debt. Funniest part is you can still see Gibbs Ads all over the web with no sign of them closing.

Also, I've tried to use their career placement for the last 2+ years. The best lead their office comes up with is Staples, which of course, doesn't require a degree.

She has done up my resume over and over for me, claiming spelling errors for my reason for unemployment. Which is totally false. It's her excuse to blame ME for it. They are no help and its not fair to the rest of us. I have since started disputing my student loans with them because it is absolute crap that anyone has to pay these scammers.
