this is a good move, but people should be seated before bikes.

hopefully this can be done in such a way that not many seats, hopefully none at all, are lost.

Right now there's hardly enough room for all the people on the trains, never mind bikes!

Jodi is about as disconnected from her constituents as a Governor can be. Despite all that she hasn't done to move the railway car replacment project along, now that it looks as if it might actually happen, she wants to displace passengers with bicycles!!!! I ride metro-north every day and get a seat about 2% of the time. How about we make room for paying passengers first Jodi, then worry about bikes. Or maybe cyclists should be made to pay a fee to bring their bikes along since they take up the same amount of room as does a passenger!!

1) You DO have to secure a permit to bring your bike on Metro North (non-peak hours only) and I believe there is a fee attached.
2) Bikes are NOT allowed on peak trains - is this going to change?

GREAT idea! I have been waiting for it to happen for a while (and looks like I will be waiting longer). I ride my bike 1.5 miles to the station, take the train and then walk another mile to work - then there is the return trip. Bringing my bike will make it easier and quicker.
Thank you Gov. Rell!

If people locked their bikes up properly at the Bridgeport station I hardly think this would be an issue. This includes using a high quality bike lock--not the $6.99 generic brand.

Two weeks ago, I was told my a metro-north employee that the number of seats would not decreased on the M8 trains. So, in effect, Jodi is taking away seats in order to make room for bikes. Is she out of her flipping mind??? There is NO ROOM on these trains... even standing room is becoming crowded. Unless she is going to budget for more railcars, this is a really dumb idea and merely pandering to a vocal minority.

Jodi Rell should keep her mouth shut and go buy another pant suit.

we need more frequent trains along with designated bus lanes on streets like they do in other cities. Bikes are great but we do need more room for them.
