I wish NBC10.com would name the authors of these articles. This piece was poorly written, with numerous examples of poor grammar and unclear statements. "Loy is free on bail charged with a number of crimes" "Both police and her attorney cited privacy issues and wouldn't say Monday" An important part of journalism is being able to convey the facts accurately, succinctly, and in a manner that is digestible by your audience!

What kind of low-life would even thing of doing something like this. Why don't these people think of the impact on having children before they actually go thru the act of having them. Nothing could be that bad that anyone should even think about doing something like this. I hope the court system shows no mercy on her.

I'm in no way condoning or justifying this woman's actions, but I will say that I've known her over 30 years and she's struggled with family and medical issues for most of that time. This horrible incident was her sick way of crying out for help. She did at least call out to someone close to her to pick up the child and get her out of there when this woman realized how far out she'd gone. I hope that by entering into the system, she is able to get the mental and physical help she needs. Her child is out of harms way finally.

People are out of control. She needs to be put away for life no chances. Bail, what a joke that poor child could have died would you then offer her bail? Why not give her a lobster dinner. She is an animal throw away the key. The justice system is showing mercy for the criminals not the victims. why do we even pay for these Judges to sit on the bench? You get in bigger trouble over a traffic ticket then you would committing a crime. Things need to change we are at war here with a lot of sick people whom are walking around killing or trying to kill. we are not safe and the goverment needs to wake up stop raising taxes and causing our world to lose so much and focus on what is going on in AMERICA!!

You know if this were some inner city welfare Mom would law enforcement and the press be so sensitive to her needs and maintain her privacy? Not a chance. Her mug shot would be all over the paper and the juice details of what happened would be all over the papers. WP must be a nice thing.

Why does this have to be about inner city mom vs. suburbia mom. This is about a very sick individual who really deserves no remorse, since she failed to show any yfor her daughter's welfare. If you had bothered to actually look at the article before you started writing your comment, you would have noticed that there was in fact a picture and a name attached. The woman removed the batteries from the detectors so she wouldn't wake the child, but she didn't intend to hurt the child? HMMMMMM, sounds to me like some one is going to try the "insanity plead". Please explain to me how there was never any risk to the child as the attorney states. I have a four year old daughter myself and I have NEVER thought of removing batteries from smoke detectors and trying to light drapes on fire. As a mother you are to protect your child/children at ALL costs not try to set the house on fire while the child/children are sleeping!
