A letter home

My son, Lt. Col. Paul Peterson of St. Anthony, wrote this e-mail in June. He was on his third deployment with the Minnesota Air Force Reserve.

Charles J. Peterson, freedom isn't free, howerer it's been paid for in full by every fallen U.S. soldier.

Wow what a freaking idiot! How one can be so ignorant of history is beyond belief. Ever heard of raping and pillaging moron?

Mr. Peterson, your son's letter should be required reading for every citizen of this country. His message of respect for a fallen comrade and a dedication to home and country. Above all else, it illustrates the fact that men and women, such as your son, are human beings dedicating their lives to this country and feel the pain if one of their own were lost. They are not nameless or faceless. They embody what makes this the greatest country on earth.

And congrats to you, Sir! You've raised a great man and nurtured a great soul.

sock, I've been reading local OpEd pages for a lot of years. You will find Mr Kriz's name numerous times. He appears to be the self appointed conscience for our society. He's content looking down upon anyone or anything that makes our country great. An attitude that is deepy seated in 1960's politics.

What makes this letter disgusting is he is implying that our armed forces are killing innocent people and further shrugging it off. Our Armed Services are filled with people of honor and character. Implying anything else speaks to your low charater and spinning moral compass.

If civilians are caught in the crossfire, its because the enemy combatant will not step onto the battlefield in a uniform. They hide behind women and children, in schools, in mosques. They hijack our planes filled with innocent people and run them into buildings filled with innocent people.

Pioneer Press, why was this letter printed today, of all days? Mr Kriz has a right to free speech, he doesn't have a right to be heard.
