I have spoken to several of our local Police Officers and I am really scared for them. They have told me how their department has been ignored by City administrators for years, and now they are so shorthanded that it is only a matter of time before one of them is seriously hurt or killed as a direct result of not having the officers that our city needs. They tell me how many times a day there are disturbances or other dangerous calls, and no one is available to go. And how they are often sent into these same dangerous situations with no backup. Their cries for help have been ignored for years, simply because previous administrators had it out for them. How I hear that they are losing officers at an alarming rate, and not just because of being run into the ground every day. The pay for our officers stinks! I personally know 7 that are leaving within the next six months for departments where they are appreciated and not ignored.

Call you Council Member and let them know OUR officers need OUR help. Better pay so they all do not leave, and more officers so that they can protect us in a safe manner!

Ironic how the very people who criticize the police the most are the same ones who need them the most, and cry the loudest when they need their help. NBPD does an excellent job and I thank GOD every day for them, and pray for their safety. I would suggest the same from you.

That's baloney. Nbpd is one of the best funded in the country. Ccsd is too, yet our county jail sucks. This county will expidite you from any where in the US. If the cops don't get the money that's not our fault the tax payers have already paid. The cops never helped me out

I think you mean "extradite." Even your incorrectly used word was misspelled. Anyway, I am sure the blanket statement you've just casually thrown over all the fine men and women of the New Braunfels Police Department really inspires them to come back and do their job everyday. It's an incredibly difficult one, and not many can do it and do it well. If you had a bad experience, sorry for you. Doesn't mean every officer is bad. There is an awful lot of good done by these folks too...some is seen but most goes unnoticed. There are some truly heroic acts that occur more often than not, and I think you'd be surprised to hear actual facts- not just your own perception based on one time you called and they blew you off. Geez. If you're not careful and continue to refuse supporting your local law enforcement, they will indeed leave and hire on with departments who will offer better pay and benefits, and you'll be stuck with whatever the city can hire at crappy rates of pay and benefits that are sorely lacking. Several I have known for years have done that very thing, and it's a huge loss to the community. The community needs a chief who will fight for excellent officers who are consistently held to a high standard of accountability all the way up the ranks, and a city manager who will support them by fighting for the pay they deserve. I'm all for a pay raise for these folks and God Bless them for the service they provide to this community.

Just wondering what blanket statement you were referring to. 1) I can't find anything bad i have said about the individuals, it would seem my statement to be more against the "organized forces"aka government aka politics.
2) It is a fact that ccsd and NBPD are very very well funded
3) Take a look at the jails. Forget about the subjective (or is it objective?) Like quality of the food (ask anyone that's been to both Comal and Guadalupe) think about this. Guadalupe issues t shirts boxers socks a pillow a thermal in addition to the sheets and jumper. Comal?-sheets and jumper. And it's not one bad experience I've been to the facility five times. Not enough to make me a career criminal but enough to have an informed opinion. How many times does the air conditioner
Go out in the summer? Where is the money going?
+++++++Excuse my "seblantics" but however I used or misused the word, it's a fact. If you are wanted in Comal county, and they find you in Washington state, your ass is coming to Comal. Comal will come get you or pay your way back.
And while we are telling each other how to live , correcting people grammar or spelling, esp when they are probably typing from a small phone and don't care if a if word is correct add long as the point gets across, is rude. It don't help none and make you look like a jack ass
